Why won't DirectX 9.0 install on my computer?

1. What error message are you getting?

"Error: FS9 Flight Simulator cannot run because version of Microsoft DirectX installed on your computer is incompatible. Please reinstall DirectX 9.0 by running Flight Simulator setup or download the current version from www.microsoft.com\directx."

I also get a message in DOS that Windows is unable to update files, when I reboot after the download.

I've tried downloading 9.0 from microsoft.com, twice. I can't reinstall it from setup because FS won't open.

3. Setup should be on the cd

Start > Run > D: (or whatever drive your cd is) SETUP.exe

If this doesn't work, you have way bigger problems than DirectX not installing (ie a failed cd drive)

Are you talking about installing DirectX or FS? Cause installing DirectX has nothing to do with FS except that FS needs to have an updated version of DirectX.

How about installing DirectX (rebooting)..then installing FS.

Another thing too is that FS9 I believe predates the latest DirectX. (which version is that anyway) What version of the OS are you running?

If this version of FS is a a few years old; it might not like the later versions of DirectX (9.1 is the latest I believe)
