Every one of my African-American friends refuse to even travel there. These are people who live in Chicago, a pretty prejudiced city, but they say Boston is ten times worse.
Then, it seems that Dirty Harry trained the police force.
Is Boston as bad as it seems? Is it really that racist?

1. No - it is really not bad - but is a bit worse than Chicago. The 70's were |

the low point. Ethnic areas - as in Chicago - are common. Employment is unbiased in almost all places. Folks are friendly in public and in private. School Board bias on fund allocations continue, but at a small fraction of the 70's level. Crime is minimal.
Housing is not very integrated, and there are idiots, as there are everywhere (I lived in the Chicago area for 20 years).

2. Depends on which part of Boston you are talking about. Racisism still thri |

in East Boston and South Boston, but here in Jamaica Plain we celebrate our diversity. My block should be flying the UN flag and we are very supportive of each other. It all depends on where you are in Boston. The old racists are here, but so is a spirited community of people committed to equality and diversity.

I recall Bonds saying that Boston is the most racist city he has played in, he has played in alot of US cities over the years so I don't know, I never been there.
