I'm conflicted about the Astros' loss.
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 09:08 AM by Richardo
On one hand, I wanted them to win. :(

On the other hand, every RW hate-spewing AM idiot in town was tying an Astros victory to a Bush victory and how sweet and right and virtuous that would be so part of me is actually happy they lost so those morans will have to eat some cold, damp crow with shit stuffing. :D:thumbsup:

1. for some past Red Sox players the curse lives
Witness Roger Clemens choking once again in a big game. I am sorry that he had to live the curse in your teams uniform.

2. I think it's for the best
Had the Astros won, there would have been a media orgy of sports and political metaphors--at least we're spared that!

3. I Love the Astros.
But I know what you mean. I don't think I could have stood it, listening to RW bullshit about how both are predestined to win, or God is making a selection, etc. I'd rather wait another year for the rings than listen to any more Bushit.

5. As a former Houstonian, I too am conflicted.
I didn't mind cheering for the 'Stros when I lived in TX. I mean, at least they were a National League team.

It would have been nice to have a Boston/Houston Series, but on the other hand, it's great to have a Red Sox/Cardinal Series.

And even though, I'm a firm NL kinda person, I'm pulling for the Red Sox this time. The DL doesn't mean as much in the WS anyway.

6. An a political tilt this could be VERY good for Kerry
Not that a Texas/Mass series wouldn't have been (BTW- not W's Texas team but no one seems to mention that).

BUT Kerry will get significant face time in Missouri. I'm just saying.

7. It was all my doing, I'm afraid
Every Astros game I watched or listened to this season, they lost. Only the fact that I spent so much time on the campaign this year let them get into the playoffs at all. As much as I wanted the 'Stros to win the pennant, I decided yesterday that the prospect of a Texas/Massachusetts World Series was just too dreadful. So I watched the game and the curse held. Sorry, Astros fans. Wait til next year!

8. I'm conflicted as well
On the one hand, it would have been neat FINALLY having TX represented in the Series... on the other hand, it's Houston's team.

11. Thank you. I'm surprised the freak didn't use the term
"activist judges" when condemning the judicial system.

13. In any other year I wouldn't have cared but ...
I was hoping the world series wouldn't go anywhere near Texas this year. They would have shown images of 9/11 before every game. Bush would have played it for all it's worth. He would have thrown out the first pitch and sang the national anthem for every game. His face would have been up on the jumbo-tron between innings. It would have been sickening.

15. Not me -
Whenever a team from Texas is playing it makes it real easy to decide who to root for: the other team.
