2. Same reason they're making "Batman Begins"...
Warner Bros. sees all the $$$ that superhero movies are bringing in, and they want a piece of the action. Batman & Superman are easily their two most popular properties.

With Christopher Nolan directing the Batman flick, and Bryan Singer jumping ship from the X-Men franchise to direct Superman, at least they're concerned about making good films.

3. Christopher Reeve was an unknown when he was cast.
It seems they were having trouble getting a "name" to sign on to the project. There is a lot of pressure to be Superman. I don't like any of those Lois Lanes though. Not sure who I would pick though since they do need to be fairly young to complement the 25 year old Superman.

4. I agree about the Lois Lane choices, I think they're all bad
But I really don't care about anything DC. Bryan Singer abandoning X-Men 3 to make this kind of aggrivated me, but maybe someone else can make it better.

5. Looking more and more like Joss Whedon will do X-MEN 3
Friggin' great idea, as his current stint on an X-Men comic is fantastic -- and I've been a Joss fan since the movie version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

6. Reasons "Why??"
I have faith in Bryan Singer. He made the best comic adaptation, X2, arguably the only genuinely good movie of the genre. He dropped out of X3 to make this.

Supes is an icon. I mean, C'mon. Superman.

They can do now what they could only dream of in 1978. I know the two Matrix sequels were shit, but to see Neo's flight sequences is to wet-dream what a Superman flying scene could look like, let alone a climatic fight scene.

As noted elsewhere, nobody had heard of CR until the original came out either. I think it makes more sense than having someone with an established personality step in.

And lastly for reasons "why," because we managed to sidestep the nightmare that would have been, a Tim Burton-helmed Nic Cage-as-Superman disaster.

Surely the OC chick's inclusion is masterbating internet BS. She's like, 12 and can't act. Any of the others would be fine since Dana Delany's too old now.

Spacey could be amazing as Lex.

7. I think Selma Blair would be a great Lois

...but she may/may not have chemistry on-screen with this new guy.

Besides, she's already Hellboy's main squeeze. ;-)

10. Oh, c'mon
I can imagine Charisma doing just about anything...if you know what I mean. :silly:

And Evangeline Lilly from Lost comes an awfully close second.
