The Theresa Heinz-Kerry bashing in GD2004 / LBN is getting pretty tedious. |

Really, people. She's not on the ticket. She's not a politician. She's bombarded day-in-day-out by reporters. Sometimes, she's going to make mistakes. You would, I would. There's been a few people who claim that if we lose, she'll be in some way at least partly responsible. Let's face it, people. That's bullshit.

she points out she's not the one on the ticket herself and asks why the press is even bothering with it. That ought to shut the jackasses up.

The crap I hear about her from people around me here in the office is more than enough, thanks.
When did a possible first lady become such a target so early?

4. Remember Hillary Clinton? She got it much earlier than THK. |
|
I agree with the earlier posters on this thread. Teresa's not the candidate and she did apologize and Laura accepted the apology. Enough already!!!!

11. I remember the media jumping on her case over |

the "stand by your man" comment she made. It made her come across as a shrill bitch, and they had a field day with her ever since. Heaven forbid that a man should have a strong wife..:eyes:

But she kind asked for it, and I don't remember it being beaten to death the way everything about Teresa is. Maybe it's just because I worked with cooler people then. The media I couldn't care less about.

own opinions (maybe I'm mistaken). Now we've got THK who has her own voice and mind.
repubs will tell you there is room for all under their tent - unless the women who want in want to do more than smile politely.
Seriously, they've got nothing compared to Kerry - no record, no accomplishments (unless you consider pissing off the rest of the world an accomplishment), nothing -- so they go after the wives of the candidates.
I'll say it again, tell your repub friends about Pickles' driving history and watch their heads explode. That's a subject you can't approach with them.

8. When a desperate bunch of losers get frantic at the end of the road. |

This is just more Rovian/Bushco flailing around, hoping to swing some votes, just like Cheney's outrageous claims about US cities getting nuked if we vote for Kerry.
They will say anything at all--EVERYTHING at all--to distract the American voter from the one real assessible factor in this race, i.e. George Bush's incredibly atrocious record as appointed President of this United States.
That's the issue, not goose hunting or anything else.

10. It's all fallout from trying to 'Hillary' THK |
|
IMO, this is all part of the GOP plan of FUD against women. The mere idea that a woman could not only be successful, but also be strong is a concept that scares the shit out of them.
If women gain too much power (i.e. equality in society) then it will take the GOP generations to retool their hate-machine to include that. In other words, successful role-models for women like Hillary Clinton and THK are a wind of change the GOP is dead set against, but its and inevitable change.
To quote Harold Washington: "We have destroyed the dinosaur."

the media were pretty tough on Hillary Clinton in '92 and '96, too. She put her foot in it over the 'stay at home mother' issue herself, and they're still slamming her over it to this day; and yet Bill was elected twice, left office with a high approval rating in spite of all the problems, and she's serving in office now. Dukakis's wife admitted she'd had a drinking problem, and they hammered the crap out of them both over it. I don't think smears of candidates' wives turn off any more voters to the candidate than they turn on. It's a zero sum game, really -- there were plenty of people who were pissed at what they perceived to be a careerist bent to Hillary Clinton, but there also were plenty who found that attractive, and liked the fact that she was tough and opinionated who might not have paid attention otherwise.
Six of one and half-dozen of the other, folks. I think Wat's right -- I don't think, ultimately, it will make all that much difference because as many people will be offended by the fact the media are doing this as are offended by Teresa. Hillary's cookie fiasco didn't hurt Bill.

and besides the media is driving me crazy with the way they treat Theresa. Every little thing she says is scrutinized to death. I'm sick of it. This is the 3rd or 4th day after she made her comment to USA and the media is still going on about it. Laura could say I just killed somebody and the media would smile and say "That's nice."
STOP IT!! STOP IT!! STOP IT!!!! When are these media whores ever going to talk about the issues. God! I hate these people!
Damn...I'm starting to sound like Mike Malloy. THK is a great lady and will make a wonderful First Lady.
Okay. I'm done now. Backing away from the subject before I explode.

She reminds me of some of my aunts and even a little of my mom. She may not be exactly what the media want but she is sophisticated and extremely intelligent. She'll be great.
Welcome, Greylyn58 :hi:
