Ok I'm on a Stevie Nicks kick today LOL
What is your favorite song of hers? And why?

I have 2 (well I have more but I narrowed it down to 2)

STORMS

Because of 2 lines - where she described me to a *T*:
"Never have I been any blue calm sea - I have always been a storm" That is who I am and I never knew how to express it before this song came along. But also this song is so beautifully painfilled it makes me ache every single time I hear it. And I LOVE songs like that.

GYPSY

"To the Gypsy that remains and faces freedom with a little fear"
I mean is there a better line in any song?? Aren't we women all Gypsy's and didn't we all have to face our freedom with some fear at one time??

I know I know too philosophical - it's just a song. But I LOVE her because of how her songs express my feeligs.

So - anyone want to *wax poetic* about Stevie???? LOL

1. "Crystal" on the Practical Magic soundtrack
The original "Crystal" was sung by Lindsay, but it's soooooo much better with Stevie singing it. Her voice is perfect for the song.

2. favorite Stevie song
I have favorite lines from her songs.. different times in my life, I have had different favorite songs. "Outside the Rain".. "love is a word that some entertain, and if you find it you have won the game". I LOVE Nightbird.. "when I call will you walk gently through my shadow, its the ones who sing at night.." I will never tire of hearing Edge of Seventeen.. the lines "and the clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea, changes colors but the sea.. it does not change does it (she used to sing it that way in concert).. soooo with the slow graceful flow of age i went forth with an age old desire to please on the edge of seventeeeeeen.. and then that scream she belts out is haunting.

I have seen stevie in concert many times, with and with out FM. I usually have been in the first 5 rows, and am right up at the stage when she greets the crowd. Gonna put some Nicks on right now.

to the gypsies that remain..

After The Glitter Fades:
The timeless face of a rock and roll
Woman... while her heart breaks
Oh you know... the dream keeps coming
Even when you forget to feel

and that duet with Sheryl Crowe, Are you strong enough to be my man

6. I want to change my answer...
Mine was a Fleetwood Mac song and not a Nicks song anyway.

Sara is definitely it.

7. Edge of Seventeen and Sorcerer and Silver Spring
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 12:35 PM by Beaverhausen
hard to pick a fav.

These lines from Silver Spring:

So I'll begin not to love you
turn around and see me running
I'll say I loved you years ago
tell myself you never loved me

and don't say that she's pretty
And did you say that she loves you?
Baby, I don't wanna know

Oh god!!! THAT KILLS ME!

I love her...saw her live a few months after 9/11. She really rocked for an old broad!

edited to add the Silver Springs stuff

8. me too
Beautiful Child - Im not a child anymore, Im tall enough to reach for the stars, Im old enough to love you from afar and I wish that you were mine.

"Storms" has always been in the top 5 favorites of mine too.

And "Angel" is top 5 too. Best lyrics ever- "so I close my eyes softly till i become that part of the wind that we all long for sometime.."

I cant really say why Stevie's music has touched me so much through the years, but it has definitly been a part of my growing up and has always been their to comfort me and to relate to.

I also LOVE some of her unreleased stuff that should have probably never gotten out. A song I call "ashes", and I believe is about Pryderi (I believe I have the name right) and Rhiannon. I also LOVE the song I call "The maker of the birds", all about the legend of Rhiannon. "for you Rhiannon, I will fight.. I will fight the world. For you Rhiannon, I would fight, I would fight the world.. for you arrreeee innnnnn my blooooood."

I wish she would have released an album all about Rhiannon... and she walked into the forest of the black roses..stood for everything she had ever loved.. and each fold in her long black dress was just as soft as the petals of a rose. Go each day to the forest of the black roses and stand each night as tall as a tree. stand each day as tall as a tree... and she asks herself, just how much must I give away.. anything I love him that much. anything I love him that much.

9. SISTERS OF THE MOON!
How can we forget "sisters of the moon"

Intense silence, as she walks in the room.. some call her sister of the moon, some say illusions are her game.. wrap her in velvet, does anyone know her name.. so we make our choices, when their is no choice and we listen to their voices, ignoring our own voice.."

I hate to say it, but I loved Stevie when she was all freaky and screaming at the top of her lungs. The days when she was all drugged out. I wish she hadnt smoked 3 packs of cigs a day for so many years. Im sure her voice wouldnt be so low today. Still love her though.

*You know I'd rather be alone then be without you - don't you know*
