Have you noticed this new trend at DU???

I'm not criticizing people for it, I just think it's a bit strange, especially because it's been happening alot lately. But it seems that at least once a day someone posts the lyrics to a song somewhere on DU. Has this always been happening and I just noticed it or is it a fairly new thing?

11. It's not a new trend, skypilot.

I don't know that it's necessarily a good thing to post song lyrics that aren't in the public domain, since songs and poetry have the same copyright protection as articles and books (which is to say, DU could get hung out to dry if any of the songwriters got a bug up his/her ass about it). But it's been going on since I showed up in the summer of '01. Some of us are music addicts, and the temptation to post lyrics is strong. I always try to link to another site, that way if the other site is violating copyrights, at least DU won't get kicked in the butt for it.
