I was gone 16 days.
They thought my mom had a stroke on 10/5. It was more than likely a TIA. She was in the hospital several days for tests. She has recovered nicely, but is very frail. On her doctor's advice she and my dad joined the family at a long-planned beach trip to my brother's beach house at Grayton Beach, Florida. My brother is an MD and there is a hospital just a few miles away, so we felt comfortable with her coming down.

I did not have a computer down there so I was DU-less for the duration. I got back to the mountain house late last night after 12 hours on the road with the dogs. Damn I'm glad to be back!

3. Hey, Mac, welcome back
and hope your mother is recovering well.

JohnYawl got to meet Max Cleland the other day - got his autograph and a big hug! We got to meet Senator Daniel Inouye, too. Are Veterans for Kerry bringing folks like that around to talk to vets in your neck of the woods, or are they writing Texas off?

6. Thanks Geni (and all)
Geni, I moved from Texas last April. I spend about 98% of time at my mountain house in NC, and the other 2% at my downtown condo in Greenville, SC. I am active with the Veterans for Kerry here in the Carolinas, mainly as an Op/Ed and LTTE writer.

Tell JohnYawl that I am envious. Why is it that the Democratic party got the great veterans? I know the answer, you know the answer, JohnYawl knows the answer, and even AWOL Bu$h knows the answer. Bu$h is afraid of the answer. That's why he slimmed McCain, Cleland, and Kerry. That's why the GOP is the preferred habitat of the North American chicken-hawk.

5. Hello, You!! I'm Glad You're Back...
... and that things are starting to get back to something that's a bit more manageable and hopefully less stressful. I missed seeing you around.

9. Thanks G.A.O.T.
Good to be back. Lots of work to do in the next 10 days. My sleeves are up and my pencil is sharp. Words will flow. Deadlines will be met.
