any dildo consultants out there?
I'm thinking of becoming one. We just bought a house and could really use a 2nd income (to pay for day care, life insurance for my uninsured husband, etc.) I've heard of these parties (like Pampered Chef, only kinky) but have never been to one. I think it'd be a fun business to be in.

Anyone here work for such a company, and, if so, which one? I've been looking at ForYourPleasure, but it looks like they don't offer much guidance.

And, any DUers in the Houston area who'd like to book a party with me, I'll give you a special deal! ;)

9. Surprise Parties are up in your area.
Actually, they're based out of Chicago--I considered working for them while we were still in KC, but they weren't willing to travel to get me started (even though they had consultants in St. Louis... you'd think they'd love the opportunity to break into a new market!). Plus, I was pretty pregnant at the time.

So, if you're interested, give them a look-see!

11. second income, maybe a reasonable expectation
I knew a girl who tried to support herself hosting these parties in Nashville. It turned out for her to be EXACTLY like trying to earn a living hosting tupperware parties. Not a huge moneymaker. Big cut to the company. Lots of no-shows, paltry sales. Just go into it with the right expectations.

14. I think they're great for at-home moms
If you want to make a little of your _own_ money, plus have an excuse to leave the husband and kids for awhile and hang out with adults, they make fine employment. But as a sole source of income?--highly unlikely, you're right. There are a few people out there who make buttloads of $ doing tupperware, Mary Kay, whatever, but not many.

13. I went to a pleasure party last year
There's no way that I could do that. She said everything with a straight face as she talked about the items and even demonstrated them (Actually not like that.) She passed them around urging us to feel how soft it was or how much it vibrated. I suppose if you're comfortable with that sort of thing even with people who might not be all that comfortable, go for it.

Damnit! Maybe this isn't the right business for me, then.

yeah, not for everyone, I agree. I just think that I might actually be good at it, for some reason.

18. I worked for one a long, long time ago
The particular company is no longer there. I had a blast doing it; it was a lot of fun. But I didn't make much money. With this company, you rarely got leads for parties, and I didn't have many female friends or have a regular job at the time, so that made it hard to get started booking parties. A lot of the other women did make decent money because they either had a lot of girlfriends or female co-workers to help them get started by having parties. Once you have some parties, you find that guests at the parties will be interested in having their own parties, and it snowballs from there.

I don't know how other companies work, but I suspect it might be similar: you had to buy the products for your sales kit--you know, the products you 'demo' at the parties. At that time, I think it came to around $200, but who knows what it is now. We also had to collect the money (usually checks), turn it in, then the shipment was delivered to us and we had to deliver the products to the woman who had the party. (Things may be different in regard to delivery now, but I'm not sure.)

That's all I can think of right now. If you have any other questions, I'll try to help.
