The once great state of California
Just got back from a trip to San Diego to see our youngest son. Wow what an eye opener. I don't wish to offend those of you who are unfortunate enough to live in that once great state, but holy shit. For starters, gas was 40 cents higher than in Oregon, you had to pump it yourself, guess how much you needed, the roads from Sacramento to LA were the worst I have ever traveled and no one obeys the posted speed limits. You fucks think you are all race car drivers, but without the skill. I know, I raced for years and have a den full of trophies. I would rather have an evil handling car on a sanctioned track than tackle the LA freeways. Bad roads+ bad drivers= a nightmare. At first I felt sorry for Californians, but not anymore. You bastards deserve all the misery you have brought upon yourselves. You are rude, discourteous pieces of shit. I am now in favor of building a wall at our southen border to keep you the hell out of Oregon. Either that or moving the border to just south of Redding and then walling it off. Northern Cal is really nice and almost Oregon-like so we will take you, but Southern Cal has nothing to recommend it besides some of the most beautifull beaches I have ever seen. But even those have been so commercialized that their appeal has almost been lost. Go ahead and elect Ahnold governor. You deserve each other.

3. I know what you mean about the roads
If you drive in from the north on 5 or 395 or 15, or from the east on 10 or 8, the quality of the pavement suddenly changes from very good to exceptionally shitty the moment you cross the border into Cali.

You can really see the difference between California roads and interstate roads through Oregon or Nevada. I guess it is kind of sad.

However, many of the drivers IN my state are not FROM my state.

Our roads are actually in pretty good shape however, due to the population growth of our state and the fact that Washington DC sends us back FAR less than we send them (about 60 billion less) compared to DC's investments in other states, we end up being forced to finance our roads and air quality through gas taxes which are nowhere NEAR 40cents a gallon. The additional fees we pay for gas are because oil companies like to cause the greatest pain where the greatest populations are...it's called supply and demand.

Our beaches are still beautiful because we have been able to fight offshore drilling...most likely another reason we are strapped with higher gas prices...it's called PUNISHMENT.

Finally, our state has seen a great deal of immigration because corporate farms like hiring undocumented help...they are easier to intimidate.

If you don't care for California...please stay home...and cram your nastiness...we get enough of it on the freeway without you.

PS was that you in the Orgeon plates driving slow in the fastlane on I-5?...SLOWER TRAFFIC SHOULD KEEP RIGHT...IT"S NOT AS THOUGH YOU DON'T HAVE FIVE FUCKING LANES TO CHOOSE FROM ..people will be more appreciative of you if you do.

Oh and on the don't wish to offend us part...BULLFUCKINGSHIT

are caused by overpopulation, so you could help us by asking your son to move back to Oregon. If he is anything like you, it would help make our state a bit more pleasant.

10. Cram my nastiness?
Surely you jest. We narrowly avoided a multicar "accident" in LA. Of course we were in the slow lane, I only drive at 100+ on a race course. The car on our left side was demolished in a Detroit Sandwich. It wasn't my driving skill that saved us in that one, it was pure fucking luck and good brakes. I don't mean to paint with a broad brush so to speak, but the "good drivers" must have stayed at home during our visit. You think I am nasty? My words won't kill you my friend.

11. I've been hearing California trashed for years, if you don't like it..
stay out. California will get by without anything from Oregon. You must have travelled down I5 from Sacramento to LA. I5 is truck heavan. I5 is a federal interstate highway. California has a LOT of highways, all competing for funds for repair. I know it has probably escaped notice in Oregon, but there is not a surplus of funds for highway maintenance. Unless you stopped or detoured in LA, you probably took the San Diego Frwy in the LA area. The 405 is CROWDED, period, all the time. There are lot of people in the LA area, about 15 million and they use freeways to get around. I guess they all should have gotten out of the way when they spotted a car with Oregon licenses plates. "Pull over, let the hayseed pass."
To make this reply short: If you don't like California, good, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out, and don't hurry back.
By the way, California has two Democratic US Senators. How many does Oregon have?

His name is Ron Wyden. Sponsor of a lot of good bills if you are paying attention. By the way, this was not a political post, the Ahnold reference notwithstanding. Do you think that folks should follow the speed limits or not? It has little to do with my or your driving skills. Do you think that your tax money should give you decent roads? PS never had an accident and no tickets for 33 yrs in spite of my trip.

we also have better universities than most states, cheaper tuition for those universities than most states, better worker's rights than most states and LESS FREEPERS than most states.

Problem is....we get LESS APPROPRIATED FROM CONGRESS COMPARED TO WHAT WE PAY IN THAN MOST STATES TOO!!

AGAIN ABOUT 60 billion less!

26. Your post invites rude responses
I say again, if you have a problem with California, don't come back. There are too many people here now. You site the price of gas as if its a choice. I just really want my gas prices to be high! Is this how you do it Oregon? You site Ahnold as if the good California posters of the old DU wanted the recall, and just breathlessly waiting for the chance to vote for the condom filled with walnuts. I, for one, do not fit that description.
I now live in a rural area of California, without many drivers. Going from place to place here is not that much of a strain. Getting around in LA is a whole different proposition. Freeways were chosen as a way to move mass amounts of people. Not a good choice, but the good pukes at Chevron, General Motors and Firestone killed the beginning of a lite rail transit system years and years ago. So much for capitalism, free enterprise and the public good.
So you have ONE Democratic US Senator? We have two. One is nicknamed DIFi and the other isn't. Ever hear of them?
As far as I'm concerned, build your Great Wall of Oregon. I've been in Oregon, but I didn't lose anything there, so I probably won't go back. If it were left up to me, you wouldn't even need your Great Wall of Oregon. Does Oregon need a large public works project?

That was not a problem. Jerkoffs going 100 in a 55 was. Call me a gomer or a hayseed, but the multicar pileup was not my fault. If I am a "freeper" for saying we should obey the speed limits then so be it. California has virtual anarchy on their roads and their insurance rates show it. I'll compare my rate with them any day. If you want to drive like an asshole, some of us are going to call you on it.

Let's see, we're a bunch of "fucks" to start with. That's not a term of endearment last time I checked.

Let us review a few more examples of your warmth and charm!

"You fucks think you are all race car drivers, but without the skill. I know, I raced for years and have a den full of trophies."

:bounce: Bravo! Good for you. When they start handing out awards for big egos, you might want to knock out a wall to expand your den.

"At first I felt sorry for Californians, but not anymore. You bastards deserve all the misery you have brought upon yourselves."

Let me guess, this isn't an insult. So when you say good bye to friends in your state you end with this lovely phrase? I'll have to use that on some of my co-workers in Portland. Should be quite a hit.

"You are rude, discourteous pieces of shit."

Ok, so this ISN'T an insult? Tsk, tsk, tsk! BUZZZZZZZ, Sheila send me in this fellows Denial File.

"I am now in favor of building a wall at our southen border to keep you the hell out of Oregon."

Don't bother, just don't come back to So Cal. If everyone in Oregon is like you, I don't think we'll be coming to visit.

"Go ahead and elect Ahnold governor. You deserve each other."

and may I suggest that you deserve a nice cool drink for that line. Yep, you need A LOT of drinks. You need plently of drinks to kill the bug that is up your ass!

The starter of this thread racing background or not has a LOT to learn about driving in crowds, and flow of traffic. Safe in Oregon; a danger in large cities.

There's always some sanctimonious SOB who thinks we should all drive the speed they are and refuses to yield.

As to the rest, I'm sick of Oregonians blaming Caliornia for everthing distateful in their experience.

The trouble in CA started the day Oregons unemployment hit 6%a few years back.

Add that to the carpetbagging assholes who come here and refer to everything as "Back home"--------
God get out of here, maybe if they listened to the natives they'd realize Spanish is the first language and English came much later.
I'm sick of all these folks trying to convert California to whatthey left behind.

34. Southern California has a lot of problems
But so do some people. Sure, of all the places I've lived and visited, it's not top of my list in all categories (it's way down there in some), but there's a lot of good in SoCal. I've certainly lived in worse places. I'ver also seen more awful drivers, per capita, in other palces - domestically, those places would include south Florida and Colorado, among others, but I'm not under the illusion that inhabitants of those palces therefore were born out of wedlock or are somehow coprophilic.

And Oregon is just dandy. But when you come on like a freeway pile-up, and start painting all Californians with a brush that's irrelevant to so many, you're going to get called on it. Deservedly so.

California uber alles.

49. I travel from so cal to OR & back a few times a year
on family visits. Up the 5 to Sutherlin/Florence, up the 97 to the Bend area. No complaints.

My OR family makes the reverse trip a few times a year. No complaints.

Of course, mom has been lobbying to get me to move to OR, closer to her, for years. I'll have to send her this part, and let her know you've ruled on the subject:

"You bastards deserve all the misery you have brought upon yourselves. You deserve each other."

52. Whatsamattayu???
Seriously, your original message is quite disturbed! Since you hate San Diego et al, why not have your son visit you in Oregon?

I've always enjoyed going through Oregon in order to get to Seattle and I can certainly understand why your gas prices are lower! Oregon is just a way to get to get to WA or BC...you guys have NOTHING there!

You seem too filled with anger; it's such an over-reaction that it's kind of hard to take you seriously. For one thing, why would you feel compelled to tell us about your trophies? That's a sign of tremendous insecurity!

You need to get a hold of yourself and not post these diatribes, okay?

I don't understand why the moderators think this thread is okay...

55. Northern California Fuck Checking In
Bad drivers are everywhere, not just in California. A lot of the problem here seems to come from tourists who don't know where they're going and decide to drive under the speed limit. Annoying, to say the least.

If you don't like California, please don't come back. We won't mind.

Might there be a reason for this? Let's say .....Your attitude towards 'life's little obstacles'!!!!!

59. This Masshole loves California
It's the only place aside from NYC that I would ever consider relocating.

As far as drivers go, Californians are a hell of a lot more polite than ANY driver in the Northeast. If you want to see some creative, aggressive driving, come to Boston. Oh, and our roads are full of potholes too.

I have had nothing but positive experiences in California-this is especially true of the Bay Area. It is very unfair to paint a whole state with a broad brush. Your rant is really childish and silly.

64. This Masshole who lives in SoCal loves it too.
And I was raised in Boston and have seen the worst in that category.

I've had experiences with Oregonians either living, or visiting down here and they seem to have a wicked inferiority complex regarding California and Californians.

Chill out man!

Hey! You just might like it here in good ole' Fresno where it's not unusual to get on 99 behind a tractor going 20 MPH. Sounds like just your speed. B-)

Although born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area, now living in Central California (San Luis Obispo :P ), (1) "I left my heart in San Francisco" and (2) How's the weather in Fresno :7 ?

But, seriously, folks, you take anywhere in California and you mix it with NYC, add just a dash of Boston and a dollop of Seattle and what do you get: HEAVEN!
