Firefox question
I have SBC Yahoo DSL, which, when I log in, automatically opens it's browser. Can I still run Firefox? I've heard so much good about it...thanks!

1. Short answer: Yes
A Windows user will be able to tell you how to change the default. For now though, once you're connected, your're connected, and can start any browser you want in addition to/after closing the Yahoo browser.

3. Thanks
I figured that, but needed to ask. I'm not totally tech-stupid, but get scared to install new stuff.

7. I was SO scared, too
And now I'm embarrassed, because it's SO effin' simple.

Do it. It's amazing.

It even moves your bookmarks for you. Just amazing.

8. Everyone needs a good butt-scratching thread
every once and a while.... returns us to our roots when we start getting all uppity and stuff.

2. I'm not familiar with SBC Yahoo DSL, but once you're
connected, you should be able to launch whatever browser you choose.

Is there a place in your SBC... that lets you set your default browser?

If so, that's where you could make a change to stop SBC... from launching its own browser.

5. Yes...........

You can download any browser and use it no matter what internet connection you have. Just close out the yahoo browser and open firefox.

I have 3 browsers installed on my computer, Netscape, IE, and Firefox. When I connect to the net with my ISP it launches IE because that is the way they set it. I just close IE and open Firefox.

6. not to hijack the thread, but related, geeky question
Has anyone successfully compiled Firefox from source? I've been trying that, because I use Linux and I've got the wrong versions of some libraries to use the binaries... I'm sort of stuck in a redundant loop of dependencies on it. But I can't get that dang thing to build. Anyone?
