Does anybody use a featherbed?
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 12:33 AM by plastic_turkeys

OK this is gonna sound dumb, but with Bush's grand success in providing us cheap fuel and heating oil etc, I need to find a way to stay warm without putting the heat up. What exactly do you do with a featherbed? Does it go over fitted sheet and you plop your self on it and the flat sheet goes on top of you? Does it go under the fitted sheet? Help. Stop laughing at me.

1. I have a feeling it's personal choice and the girth of the
featherbed versus the depth of the fitted sheet.

You might want to get a featherbed cover in case the sheet won't hold it all.

And, I only laughed a little bit; until I realized I didn't know the answer.

The above is a guess and your mileage may vary.

2. I put mine...

...under a fiited sheet. However...I also cover the mattress with a a fitted sheet. So the order is mattress, fitted sheet, feather bed, and then a fitted sheet.

Cheers,
Kim :toast:

3. Thank you both....
I looked at it in the store and was trying to picture what the heck to do with it. One thing I love spending money on is a good night's sleep and excellent linens!

12. I put mine
I've used one for about 10 years and I put a fitted sheet on top. Just do what works for you. Try the Company Store for some really good, deep fitted sheets. http://www.thecompanystore.com

6. well
i have a handmedown feather mattress pad(not as full) and it goes under the sheet as should a feather bed.
and don't forget flannel or even better chamois sheets(LL bean). and up here in WI, i just pile layer over layer. heck, last year on one of the coldest nights, the boiler went out and i didn't even notice i was so cozy under the covers.

7. I've got pretty severe arthritis
and I brought a featherbed a few months ago. I love it. It's the greatest. I brought a special cover for mine and the order on my bed is mattress, featherbed/cover, bottom sheet.

8. I have one, I use a mattress cover over it
but a duvet cover (make sure it's big enough) works too.

It's very warm and I find I only need a top sheet in the summer. Plus I loooooove that it's sooooo soft.
