when a Hummer just isn't enough . . .
Truck maker will sell giant pickup:
Navistar starts marketing cement mixer-based truck that dwarfs the Hummer and the F-350

http://money.cnn.com/2004/09/13/pf/autos/monster_truck/index.htm

The new CXT -- short for commercial extreme truck and built from the same platform as the heavy-truck maker's typical tow truck or cement mixer -- will be sold starting this week by Navistar's International Truck & Engine subsidiary.

At 258 inches, or 21-1/2 feet long, the CXT is about 4-1/2 feet longer than the new Hummer H2 pickup, and about 2 inches longer than the F-350 Crew Cab.

But the way it really towers over what's on the road now is in height. At 108 inches, or 9 feet, the CXT stands only a foot below a basketball rim and more than two feet above the Hummer or the F-350.

"It's not going to fit into the standard garage," said Mark Oberle, a spokesman for Navistar, based in Warrenville, Ill., outside Chicago. "We can see it as a vehicle for business people who want to make a distinct impression. For personal use, it's for people who want to make a statement."

6. Yep...
"We can see it as a vehicle for business people who want to make a distinct impression. For personal use, it's for people who want to make a statement."

...a statement saying they don't give a damn about the safety of passengers in other, smaller vehicles?

...a statement saying they don't give a sh*t about gas guzzling and environmental concerns?

...a statement saying that MINE is bigger than YOURS, so there! (because I have to compensate for *something else* that's small)?

...etc.

10. Do they get to write it off their taxes like Hummer owners?
I know a ReMax Realtor with a Hummer. He bragged that with all of the government rebates, and tax breaks, he will essentially get the Hummer for free. Says it is great for business as clients want to be shown houses just for a ride in it.

7. I think I saw one of those.
Although big I don't recall the pickup bed being much longer than any other big pickup. I see a marketing flop!

11. I thought you did for some
Don't some motor homes have air brakes? If they do you have to have a CDL I do believe.

13. Have you seen the stretch Hummers
Now why would anyone want to drive a cement truck unless they are hauling cement?
I've seen a Chevy 3500 dually decked out as a low-rider, looks funny going over speed bumps. Would be interesting seeing low-rider hummers and cement trucks. Some Muricans are stark raving mad. This guy had a F250 (4WD) and I had a C1500 (2WD), we had a little over a ton and a half to haul to a work site in a non-paved area (and he was a worker). So instead of me making 3 trips, I asked him to haul the rest. He refused. His truck was new, had leather seats and the work site was muddy. However, he did want to ride with me to the site so he could put in his day's work. Go figure?!
(by the why, I'm a female).
