What qualifies a crime to be judged "Crime of the Century"? |
|
that term is thrown out all the time.
What criteria is used?
And what, in your opinion, is the crime of this century?

1. Ask Reagan, Oliver North, and Donald Rumsfeld. |
|
John Ashcroft too. His avoidance of persecuting terrorists in lieu of getting his rocks off of persecuting the 'adult' industry is a despicable crime too.

2. this century has just begun |
|
anyone who calls anything that happens now "of the century" is just blowing hot air.
I imagine a truly spectacular loss would be the crime of the last century, like the holocaust or the killing fields or something awful like that.

4. I don't know what makes a crime qualify but... |
|
I would have to say that 9-11 is one so far this century. I don't know for sure who committed that crime, but it was pretty devastating.

5. Book sales and movie options |

A crime without sufficient publicity is simply not popular enough to rate the moniker of "Crime of the Century."
And it's important to have celebrity judges choose the winner. This is best done in the form of an entertaining show with reenactments, cameo appearances by popular legal figures and a catchy theme song.

with Nurenburg counting as the 'Trial of the Century'.
We can only pray that 9/11 was the worst crime committed this century, but don't bet on it.

11. I think it's any crime involving a has-been celebrity, but only when... |
|
...it's timed to distract the viewers from serious issues of global importance.

12. I would say it's an event with wide and far-reaching effects |
|
So...the * selection definitely qualifies for this century, thus far.
