Poll question: Is wearing a political button an open invitation to discuss politics?
Just curious, what you guys think. I was at the grocery store today and the produce guy sees my button and asks "So you you think Kerry's going to win?" I said "I sure hope so." I walk away to get the items I was looking for and he continues talking to my bf, going on and on about what a Bush guy he is - "I'm 100% with him", blah blah blah. I think he was upset that we didn't take his bait to argue about it.

1. If I see someone wearing a Cat cap, is it an open
invitation to discuss construction equipment and/or general redneckery?

2. Not quite the same, unless you have an interest in them!

3. I think so.
But it isn't an invitation for harassment.

4. It can be construed as an invitation b/c you're advertising your position
However, it is entirely your choice whether or not to engage in a prolonged discussion based upon how it is broached. I would not have discussed it w/the guy in the produce section either. I try not to waste any time with committed * supporters at all. It's better spent on other Kerry supporters and the undecided.

6. Sure, but don't be obnoxious.
It's perfectly fine to go up to someone and ask -- like that guy did -- "So you think (Kerry/Bush) is gonna win?" And if they wanna keep talking, go ahead.

7. I go nowhere without a Kerry button. It has started more conversations
and has given me an opportunity to present the Kerry Platform to undecideds. I also carry buttons to distribute. I converted Two voters just yesterday!

9. I wore one yesterday shopping
had a young woman tell me she liked it, I reminded her to vote which she said she would, also ran in to some neighbors whom I wasn't sure of their political interests turns out they are Kerry supporters so I took them 2 signs last evening. No negative incidents yet!

10. It's either an invitation to rumble, or an invitation to get jiggy
It depends on your point of view.

But an invitation to talk politics? You bet. That's what leads to spoiling for a rumble and/or getting jiggy. :D
