5. Yes and no.
Yes, I still have a job.

No, because our employer wants to redesign the infrastructure to eliminate many of us, when the attitude doesn't cause people to leave in disgust or nervous breakdown.

But I'll worry when the worst happens; for all I know, I might be ran over by a tricycle-wielding possum tomorrow...

15. Yes, better off, but.....
in spite of *, not because of him or his administrations policies. I got to admit, I was a little dispirited after the 8 years of Clinton, not his fault. I was just worn down with the total inconsequential inanity of the nonsensical soap opera perpetuated on us by the right wing nut cases. Right now, I'm lookin around at the country, what I'm feeling inside and we got a lot to feel good about. Its being put in peril and is threatened by Bush, but the American people are waking up to it - we're going to be ok.

30. Personally, yes. But Bush didn't have anything to do with that.
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 05:50 PM by Droopy
And when you consider my country is far worse off now I think you could make the argument that even though my personal life is better, I'm poorer because of that.

Edit: Sorry, meant to reply to the original post.

... because I completely changed my life.

I love my life.

In the spring of 2004, we packed up our life and moved. I'm a third generation native CA girl, but hated the traffic and frantic lifestyle. So, we moved to Vermont. Own our home, live in a forest, encounter no traffic and have met wonderful people. Dropped into my dream career, travel, and own an awesome dog. My dh is pretty cool, too. (LOL).

I miss my family back in CA, but visit. Thought I'd miss the beach, and do in a way that lakes can't fill -- but do not miss the crowds and the hassle with parking and all that.

Love seeing the stars, experiencing the seasons (I'm so excited with the fall colors and the spring burst of green). Yes, I am not thrilled with ice, but the snow doesn't bother me. Yes, it was really cold last winter. But I stay in and read a lot.

I've been able to start writing again, and that's a joy.

So... all in all, my life is BETTER.
And... I get to claim the Red Sox... too cool!

24. NO!! I'm a walking nervous wreck.
I can't sleep, I can't enjoy football season. I live in St. Louis and I can't even enjoy the World Series with the joy that I should thanks to our President sending my fellow citizens out to fight and die for a lie.

My husband prefaces all of our future plans with "as long as I don't get laid off we should be able to (...insert future plan here)"

31. Yes, but only because of a death in the family.
My mother-in-law passed away after a 10-year illness and left us enough to put a down payment on a house and buy a car. Otherwise, we'd be worse off now than four years ago.
