What's the best way to get rid of the flu?
I am aching all over, my nose is running and I don't feel like sitting up. I have tons of homework to do and I need to get rid of the flu that I feel coming on.

Suggestions for getting rid of the flu would be greatly appreciated.

Get the lemonade as hot as you can handle.
Drink! It works!

Rest, liquids.... you know the drill!

5. TONS of liquid.
Wash your hands.
Run hot water into the sink, cover it with a towel, and stick your head under the towel to breathe-in the steam.
Drugs, if possible.

Eat to hell and back. Eat this thing away. And take TONS of vitamins.

6. You take tylenol, runny nose and scratchy throat relievers for 2 weeks
or just wait for 14 days, and it will go away.

The best thing to do is try to relieve as many of the symptoms as possible for the duration.

You're in it for 14 days or two whole weeks.

7. Chickweed and vervain
steeped in the hottest water you can stand to sip. Drink down, get into bed, and sweat it out. This will work if you take it early enough.

8. In addition to the usual remedies
Of course take plenty of fluids and a fever reducer if you have a fever but I also take the following as frequently as possible. If you can take it once an hour even better:

1 garlic capsule
1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh is better but bottled will work too)
sprinkle of cayenne pepper on the lemon juice.

The garlic, cayenne and lemon juice is a great tonic for chest congestion. You need to start this as soon as you begin to feel symptoms.

Warm liquids, plenty of rest, and my tonic will get you well more quickly.

10. interesting
Lemon juice (several lemons, not just a tablespoon) with onions, garlic, Olive Oil and pepper (+salt) is our "family" remedy.

13. Do you use black pepper?
Do you whizz this up in a blender? Try adding cayenne to it for some extra kick.

12. Sore throat? Fever?
There is a nasty cold running around that makes you feel like shit, but there is no fever, but a nasty sore throat and nasal problem.

If you have have a fever it's probably the flu.

17. You cant get rid of it. However, you can mask the symptoms
with anti-hystamines but then the infection will get worse.

The more sleep you get the faster it will go away.

18. anti-virals are Rx only but here's a few ideas
If you can afford it, and it's really the flu, you can see a Doc in a Box and get a script for an anti-viral. Not sure how well they do with the flu though.

If you eat several cloves of raw garlic, it is anti-biotic properties and also possibly anti-viral properties. It has worked for me but, as a caveat, you can't be around anyone for a day or so, so you would have to do your homework at home tomorrow. The odor is really powerful. Garlic "pills" don't do anything.

Echniceaa doesn't really do anything for actual cold or flu but if you just need a placebo, lots of people think it works, so maybe it will work for you.

Go to bed early, rest is very important.

Get well soon.

20. go to webmd.com, but let your fever burn for a while
it's important to have a fever - it's your body's way of killing the flu virus.

drink a crazy amount of fluids, get rest, stay away from other people, and so on

21. Elderberry extract, lots of liquids
honey and tea, plain toast for upset tummy. Once you start to feel better, bread soup (OK showing my age on this)....WHITE bread, crusts removed, break into chunks, add milk and sugar. My mom always fixed this for us when we were little and coming off being really sick (chickenpox, measles, flu)

Probably the last time I ate white bread too.
