I'm not leaving.
I am an American.

I served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. I didn't hide in Texas or Alabama; I specifically requested to be sent to a combat zone.

I am an American.

I get up and go to work every day. No one has ever handed me anything. I am relatively successful at what I do now, but I have failed in the past... but no one set me up in a cushy job.

I am an American.

I wasn't raised in comfort and privelige and then later tried to portray myself as a "man of the people." I was raised in middle-class circumstances by parents who despised each other and were indifferent to me and my siblings.

I am an American.

I was born here, reared here, and hope to die here. I believe in the Constitution of the United States, in Truth and Justice, and in a fair shake for every American.

I am an American. I will not leave just because a fascist is trying to take my country away. I will die fighting before I allow idiots and bigots and hatemongers to twist the ideals of my country.

I am an American. I will never forgive the hateful bastards who are trying to destroy my country and my way of life.

1. That was great. Really put words to the reason why we should all
stand up and fight for OUR country. Thanks.

6. What is a cushy job?
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 08:54 PM by HypnoToad
Working class man myself, my job is far from cushy. And prone to being outsourced by unAmericans.

Th cushy jobs, from my observation, are the upper class CEOs who take more vacations and golf days (which they call managerial or networking meetings :eyes: ).

And everybody deserves a fair shot at success. But if mental or physical handicap renders them unsuccessful, what should happen to them?

Not to disagree with your post, BTW, it was otherwise inspiring. But there are many interpretations to what is and is not cushy. (not to mention the CEOs who get gigantic severance packages should they get fired. PeopleSoft and AT&T instantly come to mind: Get fired, get $26 mil (aka $200k/yr). I wish I could be a CEO and make them lose confidence in me. In my job, if I lose their confidence, I get nothing except a pink slip and a boot.

7. Scroll up to Skittles' reply, HypnoToad.
My post was a response to the "Where shall I move?" posts.

This is MY country. I TRULY represent America... the fascists do not, and they never have.

They make take over.. and maybe soon... but it won't be because I moved away. It won't be because I gave up. It won't be because I decided that America belongs to THEM.

These warmongers and fascists and bigots and racists and Crusaders will NOT take over America until I am dead. I am ashamed when I hear others say "well, I'm leaving." This is OUR COUNTRY. THEY ARE STEALING IT AWAY FROM DECENT AMERICANS.

That was the original intent of the post. Sorry if I was unclear.

9. I don't always keep up with the other forums, and
I am with you 100%. We are Americans and we need to stick together for what is right.

I apologize if I came across as being harsh or if my misinterpretation offended you in any other way.

8. I never understood why they pay such huge severance packages
to losers who screwed up enough to get fired! unbelievable.

Man, I really hope the next Attorney General of the US is Eliot Spitzer. This country needs a corporate crime-fighting crusader like him.
