I do believe there is a Heaven and a Hell, though don't ask me to clarify the qualifications for either 'cause I honestly can't tell you other than i don't beleive you will see evil people like Hitler walking around in Heaven.

a) pizza when you're really really hungry b) a great book and a glass of wine (your fav) c) old movies and Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia, alone again, naturally
or d) great sex
I was just wondering. You know...tough choices, it's hard work.

24. Charles Ives, 1906. An incredibly relevant piece of music. |
|
It begins with strings, which to me are a metaphor for the silent, unseeing majority, unwilling to become involved but you feel their presence anyway. A lone trumpet plaintively asks the question: the meaning of life, whatever you feel the question should be. Time after time, the woodwinds (read: politicos, pundits, pontificators) attempt to answer the question, getting more and more upset and incoherent, and finally, after a near-war of cacophony, end their rant with an impotent groan. The strings drone on. An incredible piece. Brings tears every time I hear it. Reminds me so much of America today.
