Cheesy movies you're ashamed to admit you love? |
|
My two most shameful ones are probably Real Genius and Pump Up The Volume. Yeah, PUTV has a really great soundtrack, but the plot is cheesy as shit, and it was earnest enough in its "message" that I almost tried to buy a bunch of broadcasting equipment so I could become a beloved pirate DJ.
And as for Real Genius: Chris Knight has always been my role model, and always will be.

8. You are so right about Val Kilmer and Tombstone |
|
I don't know how Tombstone got past the radar screen. It is a GOOD movie, period. And Kilmer stole the show. I can vaguely remember reviews of the Kilmer version and Kevin Costner's version(out at the same time, and with the same name). I saw the tape of Tombstone at my sisters house and thought, sweet jesus, this is a good movie. I bought a copy of the tape for myself. I think it will stand the test of time. I don't think for one minute that it is a cheesy movie(the subject of this thread).

12. Ahh, those are two cornerstones of my friends and I's conversations |
|
Many a time have we been at the bar doing shots, when my friend Justin will come up to me and say "Doc, don't you think you've had enough?", to which I'll respond "Nonsense! I have not yet begun to defile myself!"

Ike Clanton: What is that Holiday? Twelve hands in a row? Ain't nobody that lucky. Doc Holliday: Why Ike, whatever do you mean? Maybe poker's just not your game. I know! Let's have a spelling contest
Doc Holliday: Look darlin'! That's Latin. It appears Johnny Ringo is an educated man. Now I really hate him!
Doc Holliday: It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.
Morgan Earp: Look at all the stars. You look up and you think, "God made all this and He remembered to make a little speck like me." It's kind of flattering, really. Billy Clanton: Why, it's the drunk piano player. You're so drunk, you can't hit nothin'. In fact, you're probably seeing double. Doc Holliday: I have two guns, one for each of ya.

10. from the late 60s or early 70s, CAR WASH |

Man, I like the theme, and one of the characters in the movie(the rich woman from BH with the kid puking on her Mercedes) looks a lot like my late wife.

Also never got over this one, Skittles. I recommend it to friends for "bad movie nights" just to curse them with it. "Relentless piece of crap" is a masterpiece of descriptive prose! All thumbs way sideways!

19. Cheesy? What type of cheese are we talking here? |
|
Limberger or Camembert? I saw "A Walk to Remember" and cried like a little girl. Really pissed me off. I hate being manipulated so shamelessly. But it was a touching story. I loved it - and I'll be goddamned if I'll ever watch that POS again.
