Worst on-screen death? First of many Halloween Week threads. |
|
I watched that EW thing last night with Bruce Campbell. Got me thinking--what was the most gruesome, heartbreaking death in a horror film? All the examples I can think of are more survivors than deceased (the guy with the razordildo strapped to him in Seven and the senator's daughter pleading from the well in Silence immediately came to mind, but they both lived).

2. Only a horror film if you want separation of church and state. Oh, wait... |
|
I guess maybe it is.
And here I expected the first non-horror film ironic reference would be "Bowling for Columbine" (Columbine footage) or "F 9/11" (Iraqi footage).

4. Spoiler (well, of course it is ...) |

Jennifer Jason Leigh in The Hitcher. She is tied between a truck cab and its trailer - and she doesn't live.
Another one, recently on British TV: in 'Spooks', one of the (apparently main) characters had her head plunged into boiling oil.

Oh, yes.
That has to be one of the more horrific things I've ever seen in a fictional movie/programme. First her hand and then her head...
But that pales in comparison to images seen nightly on the news of bombs going off etc, or the sight of people leaping to their death from the WTC.

The sexual abuse is shocking, and then they seem to drag it out forever before they kill her.

a river? Or am I thinking of "spit on your grave?"

I won't give it away, but it's terrible because it was inevitable throughout the movie. You just want to scream at him to not do what he does next...
