Ashlee Simpson to Sing Live Again Tonight
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - Singer Ashlee Simpson (news) gets another chance to sing live — perhaps — on national television Monday after walking off "Saturday Night Live" in a does-she-or-doesn't-she lip-synch moment.

Simpson is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas for NBC's "Radio Music Awards," scheduled to be televised at 9 p.m. ET.

The 19-year-old was the talk of the Internet after Saturday's show.

Her record company blamed a computer glitch and she blamed her band, which cut off her planned performance of the song "Autobiography" on the network comedy show.

3. Oh, I SO do not care
I can't WAIT until all the tweeners that are responsible for foisting this crap on us grow up and get some real musical taste.

7. Like that'll matter
There's always a new crop to prop up the latest round of marginal acts.

8. true, but we usually have respites between them
Think lates eighties: Back Street Boys, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, et al., then we actually had some good music for a while. The cycle repeated itself all over again in late nineties... it's still going but the crop of kids fueling this was a lot bigger.

9. A Link on technology and the decline in musical honesty
i'm a musician, with great respect and longing for the days when singers actually sang, and musicians actually played. see link for some revealing information on deceptive uses of technology in music

10. If she hadn't blamed her band, I never would have noticed
But that was so classless. I remember a few years ago, there was some controversy about Britney lip synching and one of her brainless fans explained that "those dance moves require a lot of energy."

My response would be to ask if she is billed as a singer or a dancer. Since all these hacks are billed as singers, they bloody well ought to be singing!

11. For someone who supports Kerry, she's acting like such a Republican

Blaming everyone but her and re-creating another reality.

She doesn't seem to understand what the "live" in Saturday Night Live means; that lip synching defeats the show's purpose. The LAST thing that a musical guest on SNL should want to be caught with is a computer!

Since Ashlee and her guitarists all turned and stared at the drummer, I presume that turning on the tape was his job. And according to CNN, the tape was supposed to play "electronic percussion." Okay--but why would the drummer have a vocal track in his digital stash in the first place? He didn't play the wrong song--he played the wrong tape!

Here's the link to the video if you haven't seen it:

12. Political affiliation is probably part of the role she's playing
The authentic to Jessica Simpson's synthetic
The, er, less-so bimbo to Jessica Simpson's bimbo
The 'edgy rock' to Jessica Simpson's pop whooptydoo
The Democrat to Jessica Simpson's Republican
and so forth

Is she even old enough to vote?

I know because I've actually listened (yes, I'm a masochist). Although she sucks, she is actually singing... so...
