FUCK! The new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds record is extraordinary!

C'mon people. Go out tomorrow and get 'Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus'. A double album with great fuckin' scope that gets down and dirty with the devil and soars to the cathedral roof. Nick Cave is one of the greatest artists of the last quarter-century and this is one more milestone in an unbroken string of great recordings since 1984. Buy it. Make him our king. Who else is still making great records at 46 years of age?

I've noticed, in the last couple of albums, the production has smoothed his voice considerably. I prefer the rougher stuff.

I do need to pick that one up, either way.

The Dionysian stuff is pretty gravelly.

I didn't even know there was a new album out. I even have a credit at one of the CD stores downtown...maybe I'll have to go down today and get it.

10. I haven't enjoyed the last couple as much as the first few...

...but the worst Bad Seeds album is miles above the best by nearly anyone else.

I have some rare side-projects on vinyl, too, and they're amazing.

7. "There She Goes, My Beautiful World"

Funny you should mention Cave. I bought a magazine on Saturday called, "Paste", and in it is a 12 song sampler. One of the songs is Nick Cave's new "There She Goes, My Beautiful World". A really outstanding effort.

So I google Nick and The Birthday Party and found this image from a show that I attended in October of '81.

I really should listen to more NC&tBS records. Maybe I'll add it to my Xmas wish list.
