1. Dunno, it was strange.
My girlfriend was watching. We're on the west coast. She said that the station cut to commercial right as her performance was starting. A friend on the east coast had called my girlfriend up to tell her to tape it, since Ashley was apparently caught lip-synching.

Just throwing the info out there.

3. I am a Left Coaster....
And I just saw it. The person doing the voice screwed up and played the wrong song.

6. She sang that song earlier in the show....
The band was obviously playing correctly. Truly must have been very embarassing. But she shouldn't have been lip syncing.....

7. Another one bites the dust!!!

As music journalist who supports REAL bands, I have no sympathy for superficial hacks who get caught out like this (especially if they wouldn't be where they are if they weren't related to OTHER superficial hacks).

I appreciate your props for Kerry, but your should be a growunup about it and tell the truth. The BAND played the wrong song? THE BAND NEVER BEGAN PLAYING!!!!

If this had happened on any show but SNL, you might have gotten away with spouting some drivel about "wanting to be sure you put on the best possible performance for your fans." But lip synching on SNL is a SIN because it defeats its purpose! You're BUSTED, baby! It's off to Milli Vanilli-ville for you!!!

8. Ashlee is like Bush
we only know about her because of a more famous relative. And, under pressure, she can't perform.

9. Yeah. What is it with people in this country?
Why do so many people assume talent is inherited and that people of the same family are equally skilled? I've noticed a lot of people have this attitude lately. My husband teaches an engineering technology class at a high school. Some of the kids have parents that are engineers. These kids seem to think that they've inherited their parent's skills in engineering, but most of them are very lazy and bad students. The silly part about it is that they probably have a better chance of becoming engineers (because they have an in at their parent's work place) than my husband would have at becoming an engineer (he already has an engineering degree). These same parents, who are electrical engineers, couldn't even help their kids solve a simple voltage division problem that my husband assigned, which is pathetic. I guess seniority in the work place is more important than being highly skilled.

Our society is becoming very dumb and elitist. It doesn't seem to matter how skilled and talented someone is any more. It seems to be more important who you are related to and who you are friends with.
