I'm sitting in SQL class and about to be handed back a test I took. |
|
I'm shaking like a polaroid picture.
The scores broke down into...
3 A's 7 B's 9 C's 4 D's 6 F's
MAKE YOUR PREDICITONS ON WHAT I GOT!
I'll post the result when they hand it back!

If you want to succeed in business there is no such thing as a B. You have to get an A or you fail.
Same thing applies to coding in a complex system. An "A" means everybody's paychecks were the right amount, the rocket didn't blow up, and you didn't mischaracterize quarterly profits for Wall Street or kill a patient with a bad dosage calculation. Grasshoppa, use the force. It's important.

Try as I might, I could not manage to work in "wax on, wax off"! And "Edgar, this is your tummy speaking" would have just been too far off the wall.

18. Not quite true, Master... |

In the business world, it's an open book test, and you can get second, third, and fourth opinions. An "A" student who doesn't test his work is far more dangerous than a "B" student who does.
The secret of success in life-or-death endeavors is setting up a system where mistakes and problems are caught before any damage is done. We are all human, and we all make stupid mistakes, even "A" students. A work situation where "perfection" is overly celebrated and mistakes are covered up, ignored, or punished is DEADLY.
I worked three years in a blood bank. Mistakes in that business can easily kill people. Perfection is the quiet expectation, but it is only achieved by careful examination of failures, usually, but not always, of the sort where nobody gets hurt.
There are too many "A" students who have very little or no experience carefully examining any sorts of failures, especially their own.

congrats! That is spectacular...good work! I always like it when I do WAY better than I thought I would. It's so much better than exactly the opposite.   :bounce: :toast: :bounce:

You're now too smart to be president. Tough luck. Next time, dumb down your scores.
