i've lost my taste for violent action movies.. |
|
I just realized tonight, after many years, that i've completely lost my taste for violent action movies. Maybe it's all my recent reading of chomsky and zinn, but i watch this stuff, people getting shot and stabbed and i just think.. "why is this cool??"
i used to love going to see this stuff every weekend, but it just doesn't do anything for me any more.. I'd rather see a movie with some substance.. or a comedy or something.. anything but blood, guts and death.. i get enough of that trying to keep up with world affairs.
anyone else have similar feelings?

I guess I've been bred into it, because I enjoy it still (as long as the right guys get shot). I watched the movie Hunted with Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del Toro, and I was kind of bummed out because it paints the FBI as a bunch of heroes, and the guy I could empathise with (del Toro) got killed in the end. He was a vet of the Balkan wars who was hunting these sweepers who were clearing a woodland out of all it's wildlife. Kind of a sad movie, but kind of hokey too.
