Has anyone seen Richard Thompson's 1000 Years of Popular Music show? |
|
I'm going to the concert tomorrow in Alexandria, VA and was wondering if anyone has been to see this particular show and can give some insight to the general feel of the evening.
I've seen Thompson a number of times over the years and I know he puts on a great show with his own material.
However, since this is basically a tour of music (none of it his) from the last 1000 years as played on acoustic guitar and percussion I was wondering if he still manages to bring his own personality into the show or does it come off as a dry academic session as presented by a "cult hero" guitarist.
I'm anticipating a great show but wanted to know if anyone can give me a better idea as to what to expect.

An excellent show, full of RT's usual witty, self-mocking remarks and some great music. He even manages to do B. Spears' "Oops I've done it again". A lot of chatting and joking with the audience, a lot of laughter.
