Will DU get boring if Kerry wins? |
|
I'd say that a vast majority of discussion topics on the boards are inspired by a seething hatred of George Bush, but once he's out of power, what will we do? There will obviously be tons of other stupid conservatives to mock, but I just don't think it'll be the same.
So it may be boring, but it will be the most wonderful boredom ever.

our ability to fight to the bloody end with one another. We're liberals, it's like herding cats.

6. Naw, there are going to be plenty of asshole attacks on Kerry |
|
Plus I'm willing to bet there are plenty of us in here that will bitch and moan because every little thing is not done by Kerry as they wish it were.

10. That's how it should be, isn't it? |
|
Whatever leader we vote for isn't there to be adored, but to be the conduit of the voter's ideas of how the country should be run.
I'll be the first one to bitch and moan when Kerry does something differently from the way I think he should. That doesn't mean I'll regret having voted for Kerry, or even that I think that there's anybody out there who is both electable and able to do it better -- it just means that once "my guy" is in office, I'm not going to fall asleep and unquestioningly approve of everything he does.

9. No, this is where we document all the problems created by * |
|
The next 10-20 years will be needed to fix all problems created by Bush. He broke it, we'll have to fix it.
It took almost 20-years to pay off Reagan's cold war Debt.
It's going to take at least 20-years to fix all the damage caused by the Neocon and Republican cabal.
National Debt, Gerrymandering, SCOTUS, Environmental policy, Privacy rights, Energy policy, and the FAILED Pre-emptive war doctrine.

12. It will factionalize over various topics |
|
But that is okay. There is a good spirit of activism on DU that will help keep us focused on many topics. We are stupid if we think electing Kerry is the end of the war. We still need to moderate the House of Representatives and the Senate.
There is a lot of work to be done. We also need to help rebuild the Democratic party from the ground up. To get rid of Bush we are willing to overlook a lot of things, but once Kerry is safely in office and the first attempt to impeach him has been beaten back, we can focus on strengthening our party.

13. DU will have President Kerry's back. |
|
We often didn't have the dirt on pukes who attacked Clinton until it was too late to counter them.
DU will be a first responder this time, and anyone who tries to attack President Kerry had better check their closet for skeletons first.
Also, there are so many problems caused by the BFEE that if Kerry was superman, he still couldn't fix them fast enough for many of us. And we'll be on top of each and every action faster than a speeding electron.

16. We'll have a lot to do |
|
Hold Kerry's feet to the fire
Gear up for 2006 congressional races
Cover Kerry's back
Fight off the Repub attacks
Build and refine the party structure.
Spread the "gospel" about progressive values.
and most importantly:
Make sure an illegitimate pResidency NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
