Just hooked my 82 year old mother's new Toshiba laptop and so far |
|
I'm having a blast with it!!
I can't get used to the small print on the screen, though. My creaky old computer and it's 15 inch old-fashioned monitor is so much easier on the eyes!!
I tried to make the print larger on DU..but no luck..Any secrets to this??

1. Why did you steal your mother's computer? |

2. What browser are you using? |

Firefox - got to view - increase text size
I think other browsers have the same feature. I'd have to check real quick, though and I'm sure someone will answer for you in the meantime.

4. Yeah, I'm fooling with Netzero and did the View/Text thing to no avail... |
|
I'll probably put her on our local ISP and use Netscape ....but I don't know anything about laptops and what gives with these screens....

6. Pretty much the same settings and way to them as you |
|
used on your other PC - IF your other PC was running a version of Windows and IF the laptop is too.
Many similarities.
I'd like to take a second to recommend Firefox over Netscape. Can download pop-up blocker extensions; easy to install, and I sure got my larger text when I tested it a few minutes ago after reading your post.

7. Don't know how it works with Windows, or a laptop touchpad, |
|

but with my Firefox in GNU/Linux you can use Ctrl & the scroll wheel on the mouse to adjust text size too (or Ctrl+ to increase, Ctrl- to decrease)

8. Coolness. Works the same on my Toshiba laptop with |
|
win xp (no comments, please) and my external mouse AND the scroll on the touchpad.
Thanks. I forget about those shortcuts sometimes.

9. You're welcome. And I generally don't make |
|
comments about it, unless someone is requesting alternatives. Heck, I still use my 8-bit Atari computers on an almost daily basis.

3. Try right-clicking on your PC's desktop |
|
Go to Properties, go to Settings tab...
Click on 'Advanced'
Change the DPI font setting to 'large' and see if that helps.
