I am Chichiri. Ask me anything!
Seriously, I don't know what this "ask me anything" trend is. Is it just a thing?

1. I think so
Some people have posted threads ending with "ask me anything" when they wanted to get to a certain level of posts, like 1000. The idea was that by replying to questions asked, the poster could achieve his goal quickly. Others have copied the format, usually to share something of a celebratory nature, such as getting a job, passing an exam, etc.

If I may be so bold, what is the meaning of your user name?

4. It's an anime character, actually
From an anime series called "Fushigi Yuugi," which means "The Mysterious Play." Chichiri is a young monk who goes around wearing a mask to hide his facial scar, and ends every sentence with "no da!" That's a Japanese phrase, which doesn't have a literal meaning -- it's kind of a verbal exclamation point -- but which the English dubbed versions of the anime translate as "ya know!", which invariably sends FY fans into a homicidal rage.

I take his name just 'cause I like him. ;)

8. To my shame, I've never played FF7.
I take it you would recommend it, then?

6. I used to.
I took three years of it in High school, and then promptly forgot all of it, to my dismay. Not much use for Japanese in the American midwest, sad to say.
