high power psu's. Your computer's worse nightmare is a faulty PSU. It can mask itself as many other problems. Awesome power supplies here

5. Their 350W model (same brand) was $59.99, no sales deals. |
|
The 550W was, regular price, $120 - with a total of $60 in instant and mail-in rebates to effectively make it $60. Unless they wanted to lower their stock, I don't see why they'd really drop it.
I even asked a clerk, who warned me of their in-house brand in favor of the sale price model, though he said Antec TruePower was the best (which is true). But the 430W TruePower was $110.
The Mad Dog PSU also has a 5 year warranty.

and I love it.
Edit: "Just" being about nine months ago. I'm running about 7 HDDS, 2 DVD-R/Ws and a floppy, so I needed it.

www.compusa.com - I didn't look on their website, but the store I was at had the sale. I reckon it'd be everywhere.

The power hunger is coming from the newer vid cards, especially the Nvidia 6XXX series. It's not really the cpu's. They're just generating tons of heat along with the vid cards.
