1. I posted about that this morning. Different channels kept showing it and
I was hiding my face. I don't want to see that again.

Nasty!

2. almost as bad
As when some Pittsburgh Penguin player got knocked out cold by a hit in a playoff game against the Islanders about a decade ago. He was out on his feet and he just fell face-first on the ice and cracked his face open.

I didn't see any blood on the figure skater so I don't know how badly she was injured, but it reminded me of that.

4. the asshats here
ran it on a FUCKING LOOP yesterday, this morning, the afternoon and tonight.

I have a real problem with seeing this kind of pain, springing from the sheer hell of cancer treatment that sent me to the ER on several occasions for sweet sister morphine. I have to have counseling for it and shit. And right-I did NOT LOOK after the first time. But I knew it was there. I get a terrible visceral reaction to shit like that.

5. I'm with you on that
Remember when the Challenger went down? For days on end, they kept showing the video of Christa McCauliffe's parents as they watched and the dawning realization on their faces as they figured out what had happened. That still bothers me - there is no reason to capitalize on people's pain like that. I don't want to see it!

It wasn't often played, but I also remember video from McAuliffe's classroom who were watching the launch on television. The poor kids.

10. Why I Don't Watch Most Ice Sports
...or gymnastics.

Extreme sports? Racing? Sure. If some dumbass wants to shatter his bones to gain the adulation of beer-swilling yahoos, fine; it'll help keep 'em (and their imitators) out of the gene pool, and no one's forcing them. I laugh at their deep-tissue road rash.

But! Call me a chauvinist if you will, I cannot watch skating or gymnastics for fear that I'll see some poor girl, performing under pressure from some lunatic parent, snap her arm or split her skull open.

And yeah, the TV news couldn't get enough of this incident, so after the first repeat of that horrible footage I kept the box off. I knew to steer clear of local idiot sportscaster/red-faced drunk Gary R. on Channel 4; he loves it when women players get hurt and probably ejaculated into his own face over this one.

12. I saw it on 5
and really they just played it as long as they talked about it. Even Joyce Taylor said "turn it off". She'll probably get in trouble for that.

6. Worst I've ever seen...
Was in Nagano when that speed skater lost it and slid into the matt, but the way he slide lifted the mat up and he broke his hip in two on the pole behind it.
