1. I don't know if it's the Trinity, exactly,
because I have the impression that's three beings in one, but Mormons believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. It's an article of faith, as I recall.

3. Latter-Day Saints
"Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) believe (teach) that the Trinity is not three persons in one God, but three separate Gods. Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) believe (teach) this because that is what their prophet Joseph Smith taught. Joseph Smith taught that the Trinity was three Gods, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, each being a separate God, and Joseph Smith said that the doctrine of the Trinity as in three persons in one God was a strange doctrine. Joseph Smith called his doctrine on the Trinity being three separate Gods they "plurality of God" and that it was taught from the beginning of the mormon church."

5. I was not taught that Jesus and the Holy Ghost are gods
but that there's only one God, and Jesus is his son, and the Holy Ghost is ... well, not a god. I don't remember exactly. I was only forced to participate for five or six years when I was a teenager, and then I blew it off.

14. Why tolerate insanity?
After all, your typical Mormon is a Bushista, and has been fucked in the head from day 1. Ever read anything about their out-in-the-ozone beliefs? And they go on worldwide "missions" spreading their crapola. The only thing worse than a Mormon is Jerry Falwell.

16. I think the same of other religions
However, I have the common decency not to tell others of it.

It is manners, lad.

18. If you can say you think the same of other religions...
you shouldn't lecture anyone about manners.

Jerry Falwell is fucked. Is that bad manners?

Bin Laden is fucked. Is that bad manners?

Fundies are fucked. Is that bad manners?

Mormons are fucked. Is that bad manners?

Right now, the public spokespeople, inlcuding the Pope, for the Catholic Church are fucked. And I considered myself a Catholic until recently. Is that bad manners?

Frankly, any religion that intrudes on politics is fucked.

Is that bad manners????

The First Amendment was crafted to protect government from religion, not vice-versa.

8. Don't get me started
The other day I found this page of things Mormons believe that are ... shall we say far fetched? And I had heard most of them at one time or another. I'd post it, but it would be disrespectful.

13. What is this - Talk About Mormons Day?
I went out for drinks after work, and the guy sitting next to me - who knows my history - asked if my ordering a margarita makes me a Jack Mormon. And everyone laughed because they knew the answer would be NO (because you have to claim the faith, which I don't, to be a Jack). So then the guy says he's reading Under the Banner of Heaven, which I read last year, and starts this whole big convo about Mormons in which this other guy who knows everything about everything says the same thing you just said about Mormons and money.

"They really know how to make money," he said. Kind of a coincidence, since I don't talk about Mormons every day or even every week.

12. You bet! I was a Mormon when I was a kid....
...the Holy Trinity in Mormondom is:

1. Sears Roebuck (clothing)
2. Costco (groceries)
3. Walt Disney (video entertainment)

Sorry- being Mormon hastened my journry into Deism.

15. "Jesus Christ is God's firstborn son.
Jesus is Lord and Savior; God of this earth; creator of all in heaven and earth as directed by God the Father; one in purpose with the Father and the Holy Spirit--a Godhead of three separate members."

Well, that's what Beliefnet tells me anyway.
