16. This probably isn't the correct answer but... |
|
...that quote made me think of the movie "Jeffrey", which wasn't technically a horror movie but it was the most godawful movie I have ever seen. There is a scene where a gay man dies and goes to heaven. He was a member of the cast of "Cats" (I think. He had a "Cats" costume for some reason). Anyway, after he dies he appears as a ghost to a friend. He is wearing his "Cats" costume but it is white now. Get it? Because he's in heaven. Anyway, your quote just made me think of that scene. Awful, awful movie.

Sometimes I feel as though I am the only idiot who sat through this thing. It took me three days to watch it. I couldn't do it in one sitting. It was just that intensely bad. But I had to see the entire thing. It was just so bad that it was actually kind of fascinating.

Usually with the horror genre, though. I seem to have some kind of disorder where I'm compelled to rent and watch every zombie movie ever made. A lot of them are simply awful. A lot. I know exactly what you mean about a movie being so bad it's fascinating. I often wonder if the actors go home miserable, knowing how bad it really is, or if they're just clueless.

...the writer who was responsible for this mess should me exiled. He's the same person who brought us the almost universally panned remake of "The Stepford Wives". Ever since "Jeffrey" I've avoided anything with Rudnick's name on it: "In and Out", "Marci X", "The Stepford Wives". NO!!!

62. As a gay man, I think I can say this. |
|
Paul Rudnick is one of those gay men whose sensibilities, including his humor, is stuck in the 1970s somewhere. His idea of what is funny might have gone over well back then but it is really tired and trite and cliched now. I mean, for the love of God, one character in "Jeffrey" actually swooned over Liza Minelli!!! And "Jeffrey" was set in the 90s!!! Hack!

LOL!!! I love that scene. No one else could have played that role. I'd never even heard of Piper Laurie when I first saw that movie (I hadn't seen "The Hustler") but I could never forget her after that. She OWNED that role. By the way, if you have a DVD player you should try to get the SPECIAL EDITION of "Carrie". Lots of great extras including two short documentaries on the making of the movie.

As cheesy as it was, some of the creepiest scenes I've ever seen in a movie were the sequences when they were receiving mental transmissions from the future, of footage of the devil emerging from the church. I STILL get chills thinking about that!
