Will The Red Sox and Patriots Help Kerry? |
|
Probably yes. Why? Because they're winners and Kerry will be associated with winners. As Patton says, America loves a winner, hates a loser. So, yes, our shallow electorate will make the connection that anything out of Boston is a winner, so why not Kerry as well.
It's still depressing as hell that it may take two sports teams to convince people to vote for Kerry, instead of the litany of failures by the Bush admin.

Especially the Red Sox. Most of the country is rooting for them to break the curse. They are a "feel good" story, and this does rub off somewhat on Kerry. This is why you saw * and his minions go after him a little on sports this weekend. In a tight race, everything counts.

The sychronisity of the long suffering Red Sox coming from behind against all odds and winning the big one.
The timing is perfect.
The public gets to see a lot of interviews with those liberal MA. sports fans and to see they are just folks.
Americans love a winner but they even love an underdog winning more.
I think it helps and I love it.
