The earworms have formed a union and are now picketing. |
|
That is the only explanation for why I would have "Solidarity Forever" in my head right now.
When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run, There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun; Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one, But the union makes us strong.
CHORUS: Solidarity forever, Solidarity forever, Solidarity forever, For the union makes us strong. Is there aught we hold in common with the greedy parasite, Who would lash us into serfdom and would crush us with his might? Is there anything left to us but to organize and fight? For the union makes us strong.
It is we who plowed the praries; built the cities where they trade; Dug the mines and built the workshops, endless miles of railroad laid; Now we stand outcast and starving midst the wonders we have made; But the union makes us strong.
All the world that's owned by idle drones is ours and ours alone. We have laid the wide foundations; built it skyward stone by stone. It is ours, not to slave in, but to master and to own. While the union makes us strong.
They have taken untold millions that they never toiled to earn, But without our brain and muscle not a single wheel can turn. We can break their haughty power, gain our freedom when we learn That the union makes us strong.
In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold, Greater than the might of armies, magnified a thousand-fold. We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old For the union makes us strong.
(Lyrics by Ralph Chaplin, 1915, bet you didn't know that.)

1. Better than what I've had the last few days: |
|
I leaned the truth at seventeen that love was meant for beauty queens And high school girls with clear-skinned smiles who married young and then retired. The valentines I never knew, the Friday night charades of youth Were spent on one more beautiful. At seventeen I learned the truth. And those of us with ravaged faces, lacking in the social graces, Desperatly remained at home, inventing lovers on the phone Who called to say, "Come dance with me," and murmured vague obscenities. It isn't all it seems at seventeen. A brown-eyed girl in hand-me-downs whose name I never could pronounce Said, "Pity, please, the ones who serve; they only get what they deserve. The rich relationed hometown queen marries into what she needs. A guarantee of company and haven for the elderly." Remember those who win the game lose the love they sought to gain. In debentures of quality and dubious integrity. Their small-town eyes will gape at you in dull surprise when payment due Exceeds accounts received at seventeen. To those of us who know the pain of valentines that never came, And those whose names were never called when choosing sides for basketball. It was long ago and far away; the world was much younger than today And dreams were all they gave away for free to ugly duckling girls like me. We all play the game and when we dare to cheat ourselves at solitaire. Inventing lovers on the phone, repenting other lives unknown That call and say, "Come dance with me," and murmur vague obscenities At ugly duckling girls like me at seventeen.
And yes, this song made me cry when I heard it in the car the other day.

their demands immediately. They are wayyyyyyy too powerful to resist.
I think they might just be in possession of 300 + tons of missing ammo.
You can't be too careful with such an unruly bunch.
Good luck.
