Hilarious reviews of America: The Book
On Amazon.com, the customer reviews are priceless.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0446532681/qid=1098807807/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/102-4469845-2157721

(or go to amazon.com and search for "America: The Book")

Click on "customer reviews" at the left edge of the page, then select "Lowest Rated First"

Here is one classic excerpt:

America (the Book) Yeah! I know it's a book; just look at it! You don't need to say it in the title!

This book is trash! It's written in this weird style, the facts are ALL wrong! (Carter never had a beard all long like that when he was President (but he was Liberal)) It has left-wing opinions in it! A history book is not supposed to be biased!

It's also full of swear words. And I know why: They're trying to make a history book that kids will read. But it defeats the purpose if it panders to them so much that it's no better than them.

The problem with this book: It's made by the Daily Show, the worst news show on TV period(.). It's weird Liberal anchor man is all goofy. When I get home from work, my mother and I will watch this show and just look at each other at how incompetent it is and even laugh outright sometimes at it. And this is the only news show I'm aware of that doesn't even have one correspondent actually in Iraq (where we're fightin)!

Ok, let's see:

  • Carter never had a beard? Have you ever heard of SATIRE?
  • History book? It's a COMEDY BOOK!
  • New show? It's a COMEDY SHOW!
  • The book panders to kids by having a bunch of swear words, therefore the book is no better than the kids. Uh.... ok?

I really just think Dick should keep George from posting reviews on amazon.com.

1. I just got my copy.
LOLOLOLOL what a hillarious book. Highly recommended!

This is even better than Mad mag's High School Year Book. And that was one of the best, especially with the mad crapper.

4. Point of order:
The high school yearbook parody was from the National Lampoon.

Carry on -

8. Point of information:
When the purpose of raising a point is to correct the speaker's facts, you raise a 'point of information.' 'Point of order' is used when raising matters concerning the running of the meeting.

That is all.

7. Whaddaya expect from a bunch of eggheads who think that
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannitty, Ollie North, Joe Scarborough (sp?), Michelle Milliken, Tucker Carlson, Dr. Laura, Bob Novak, and Bill O'Reilly are reporting the truth?

10. Is anyone else's copy printed for shit?
I don't have my own yet, but a co-worker brought hers in yesterday, and the printing and binding are crap. Poorly trapped, too much glue on the spine (making for a lumpy flip-through), weak overall binding. Anyone else with these issues?

12. Nope, mine is A-OK
Looks just like a brand new 10th grade high school history book. Sorry that your friend got the bad apple of the bunch.

13. Well, good that it's not systemic
Bad books will happen; they just usually get stopped before they leave the printing plant. Glad to know yours is in fine shape!

15. I've already told her to
Thing is, we all work for a book publisher in the production department! Why she bought a poorly-made book is weird...

Thanks for the suggestion :-)

16. Bob Boudelang, I didn't know you could read!
Seriously though, I think that review is satire.
