Dell Sucks!
I created a message thread over a week ago about my Dell notebooks fan going out. The computer was so hot that it scorched my legs and It smelled like it was on fire. After I phoned Dell they told me that the fan on the model that I had was faulty and they sent me a box to ship it to.

Over the weekend "John" in India told me that he would replace my notebook with a refurbished one because the model that I had bought 6 months ago was obsolete and they do not make that model anymore. He admitted that the fans were faulty on my model but they were not recalling the computer right now.

I received a call on Monday from some asshole in Kentucky that said that I had spilled something on the motherboard and that it wasn't covered under my insurance policy. I told the guy that my notebook had been overheating for several months and that I had called prior to it burning up and I had asked them about it overheating and they told me that it was normal and he said that I should have sent it back at that time "WTF". I told the tech that I had burn marks still on my legs from the day that it died and he said that I shouldn't have worked on it after it started to get hot. His next comment was that I had spilled something on the motherboard and that Dell's insurance policy does not cover spills. He was one of the rudest men that I have ever spoken to in my life.

After I got off of the phone with the jerk I called the supervisor back in India and I had a fit and they told me that they would replace my computer after I get it back. It's a wait and see situation on my end.

1. Sorry about that, get a Apple PowerBook.
I only say that, cause a friend of mine had been using Dell laptops for years until she started having problems with the last one. And as a lawyer she could not be with out her laptop. One day she calls us and ask if we could go with her to check out Apples laptops. That was over a year ago and she has not had one bit of trouble with both of her iMacs or her PowerBook G4.

2. I recently, in August, bought a toshiba notebook...
I have had no problems. If it gets hot, it shuts itself off. There is none of this burning up nonsense. It just shuts off. That's what it's SUPPOSED TO DO. Dell sucks. Get a Toshiba. I'm sure everyone has trouble with every brand. But I'm sure there are success stories in every brand too. Just like I know that the Dell Desktop is a great product and I know a lot of people who are extremely happy with them.
