Best Pearl episode was when she went up to the SOL and sat with the bots to watch the movie.

28. Mike Nelson IS a Freeper - oh SHIT!!!
http://www.biggerboat.net/archives/2004/june/dear_mike_nelson_i_will_no_longer_defend_you/

"Interviewer: Believe it or not, there have actually been discussions on our discussion board about whether or not you are independent, republican or democrat. Paul Chaplin and Kevin Murphy have often shared their political views with the world. So what are yours? Are you an elephant, a donkey, or neither?

Mike Nelson: Well, let me say this, I read the National Review cover to cover. Check in at Townhall.com every day. Check the Washington Times daily. Listen to Dennis Prager and Michael Medved on a regular basis. Read Mark Steyn with regularity. Read the Weekly Standard. So, yes, I do vote Republican. As the pundit Hugh Hewitt has observed, there are indeed two Americas: Serious America and Silly America. The Democrats seem bent on turning this into Silly America, so I stick with those who wish this to remain Serious America.

Of course, in addition, as angry as it makes me, I check in with the monolithic press: the NY Times, the L.A. Times, the Boston Globe. One thing I can’t do, that makes me just insanely angry, is read my local paper, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, known to many as the Star and Sickle, or the Red Star Tribune."

Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 01:20 PM by Agitator
I am ashamed to say I bought his movie review book. There wasn't really anything political in it. This does explain his irrational hatred of Garrison Keillor though.

I just realized his wife, Bridget Jones, is probably one of them too. We still have Frank and Paul and I am pretty sure, Joel and Kevin on our side.

What an ignorant asswipe.
What a fucking ignorant asswipe. I seriously think I can't watch a single Mike episode of MST3K ever again.

(And my vote for best ep goes to "Cave Dwellers" I don't know why, but I nearly die from laughter every single time I watch that episode.)

Or maybe you mean "Only Love Pads the Film":

I'm torn between Sidehackers and Manos. TV's Frank as Torgo is priceless, but the songs in the Sidehackers bumpers are soooo great.

Edit: I have side hackers burned to a CD, so I can listen in the car on long trips.

That one was f'in hilarious. The movie was some beach thriller. Damn that was hilarious.

Also loved the invention segmant when joel made the "wearable drumset" so the drummer could be mobile. Don't remember the movie they watched that time, but that was hilarious. Joel was brilliant! So sorry to have had him leave!

of course "Manos: The Hands of Fate" is up there with "torgo" the assistant with unusually large thighs, to which Crow quips, "Looks like Torgo's been hittin that thigh-master!" LMAO!!

Damn that was a funny show.

"Sidehackers", OH OH OH OH!! And what about SAMPO!!!

Anyone remember "Sampo" the Norwegien film from the 50's? OMG that one probably takes the cake. Friggin hilarious. Thanks for this thread, it's bringing it all back!

So eminently quotable (Santa: "On no, we're going out the old-fashioned way..." Crow: "Guns a-blazin'!"). And "Let's Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas" is my new favorite holiday carol.

64. What's the one with Kathy Ireland?
Where they had the segment in between the movie, showed stills of her face and went through all her emotions: "Dull surprise. Look! Dull surprise. And...dull surprise!"

68. "Alien from L.A."
(Jeebus, I'm a nerd. *shakes fist impotently at my ages-ago fraternity brother who got me hooked on the stuff*)

That one may have been the first episode I ever saw (IIRC, one weekend in early 1994 MTV had an MST3K marathon that my roommate and I happened upon and couldn't turn away), and I may actually have that on my hard drive somewhere.

Other favorites: "Lost Continent," "Teenagers from Outer Space," "Fugitive Alien" and "Master Ninja."

If you ever want to blow your own mind, watch Ed Wood and the "Bride of the Monster" episode back-to-back.

Good times, good times...

77. there are so many, but i think the 1st one i saw
is the one i have to call my favorite only because it was my 1st.

I don't remember the name exactly, but it was one of the early episodes; mission to mars or something like that. I only remember it at all because the movie was written by Robert Heinlein.

after I saw it I bacme hooked and watched every episode with my sons (until my wife began screaming every time the theme song started).

81. Written by R. Heinlein? Rocket Ship Galileo.
The only movie made of one of Heinlein's books while he was alive.

(The TV series 'Space Cadet' was also based on one of his books... which is why he never let Hollywood touch his stuff again. And seeing what they've done to his books since then, well...)

85. ahh yes thank you.

I'd forgotten roket ship galileo. Of course its been over 30 (!) years since I read that, and space cadet for that matter. Those along with have space suit will travel, the rolling stones, and the green hills of earth were my earliest sci fi exposure.

coincidentally, I just picked up an old copy of methuselahs children recently and read that again for the first time in many years.

Always loved his stuff, too bad he was a huge conservative.

83. Son, whatever you do, DON"T LOOK UP!
It was some sort of Roman flick. The guys in their little tunics were climbing a rope.... I can't remember the name of the episode.

88. Twelve to the Moon!
I still laugh out loud every time I think of the scene where the probe ship crashes to earth, followed by the African navigator's farewell of "sangay allai" to the two fallen space travellers. Crow then quips: that's foreign for "better them than me."

This one is really, really, really good. As is "Mitchell."
