Singer Ashlee Simpson has been the talk of the town after bombing her performance on Saturday Night Live.

Today she was set to perform at Granger High school for a Rock, Vote, and Win national contest... but is she?

According to 97.1 ZHT, the local hosts of the contest, Ashlee is not performing because something is wrong with her voice.

Granger High school was one of 10 in the country that won a performance by the upcoming star, but it's been a bad week for her.

11. A little perspective, please

Ashlee Simpson is about 16 years old.

I don't know of many 16 year olds who posess much of a sense of "professionalism". On the other hand, 16 year olds have been used by the entertainment industry for quite some time.

Oh, yes, we all got a jolly good laugh at her public humiliation. But making her the whipping girl for all our hipster rage against the music machine is a little out of place.

I still regret that my rock-n-roll band never made it, but heaping abuse on a tenth-grade sock puppet of the Great American Rock and Roll Juggernaut does nothing to ease that pain. On the other hand, watching a kid's public immolation isn't a cause for joy, either.

Money will still be made, even if they have to wring every last drop of blood from Ms. Simpson's tender young ass.
