Windstar tailgate problem - it won't unlock

I can't unlock the tailgate on my windstar. The power locks work on all other doors, the key will only turn to lock it, not unlock it and I can't pry the little knob up.

Anybody know how to take it apart?

2. Googling told me the problem - it's a piece of plastic out of alignment

but it didn't say how to get the back off other than it's really complicated and maybe you'd better get a body shop to do it.

I can't afford a body shop.
