Acid reflux, my ass!
I've had acid reflux since my late teens. My diagnosis is "severe erosive esophogitis" ok? Not ONCE has it ever caused my vocal chords to "swell!" Ashlee Simpson's dad is a moron and a liar. Ashlee, is full of shit too if she expects the world to believe this is the first time she's ever lip synched.

What is with our society? Can NO ONE admit to a mistake any more? The most ironic part is, my freeper co-worker made the exact same comment, and I was like, "uhhh....whatever dude."

</end rant>

23. about acid reflux
apparently, what acid reflux is actually not enough acid in your stomach to digest the food, so your food just swirls around your stomach causing that really bad feeling. what most drugs do is they get rid of all the acid in your stomach causing your stomach to overproduce acid and finally digesting the food. a cheap alternative to that, i heard is to just drink vinegar to help with the digestion. it's suppposed to work really well.

2. What's worse than the inability to admit a mistake, is the rampant efforts
of so many performers these days to fake their way to stardom and not pay their dues to actually learn their craft. This seems most prevalent in the music industry with a succession of bimbo pop star wannabes who can't sing a note and can only look good on stage as they bump and grind to a lip sync sound track. It's push marketing of pop stars, and it really makes me sick.

18. I read that!
I take Prilosec. I've never had problems with my voice because of acid reflux. Perhaps I spoke too soon though. My apologies to her if I did. She still blamed her band though. Boooooooooo!

15. Hard to explain to young kids about bands that really play . . .
The whole aesthetic of when I was growing up was bands that could set up in a garage and rock out, that had an underground buzz. Black Sabbath, Zepplin, Stones, Deep Purple, none of them lip-synched. And Ashlee Simpson calls herself a "rocker"?

Everything now is total packaging.

They should not compare this to SNL performances by Elvis Costello and Sinead O'Connor because they changed the plans to deliver something MORE interesting and more spontaneous --- Ashlee just fucked up.

I like electronic music (Oakenfold, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, etc) but they are up front that it is machines -- they are not faking.

Hopefully this will create a backlash and people will actually play their instruments again.

19. I agree, except for one thing,
The band members WERE actually playing instruments. The band members she blamed for fucking up her gig. One of the reasons it irks me so bad. The no talent hack tried to lay blame on the actual musicians.

17. She is totally talentless..
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 09:32 PM by getoffmytrain
and a packaged product of some record company that is banking on the fame of her older sister to squeek a few million out of the younger one...

She's a human being and it must suck to be humilitated on live TV in such a manner and for that reason, I do feel sorry for her...

However, I hope it ends her career and serves as a "head on a pike" to other entertainers who take us for the mindless idiots.... well.. that we are.

22. "No one can admit to a mistake anymore" - Sums it up perfectly.
This is a pet peeve of mine and it's everywhere, even havens like DU. People seem simply incapable of admitting when they are wrong. Some of my former employees & coworkers would twist themselves into bizarre, absurd lies rather than admit anything approaching an error or misjudgment. Everything from embezzled money to defending grammar and spelling errors. Nothing is too big, or too small.

24. welp.....
i've had acid reflux disease since i was about 3, been hospitalized, bleeding from the esophagus from it..... never swelled my vocal chords or any similar thing, that i can recall.

but that's really anecdotal, i wouldn't base anything on that...... just sayin' is all. if others have had that, i believe 'em. but, that's not sayin' i believe the simpson clan. if she's got acid reflux that bad, the last thing she wants to be doing is jumping and flailing around like the lead chicken for the hilljack dance troup.

and a little side note on medicine, i've been on about everything they've put out...... aciphex, is the shit. check it out, if you need somethin'.
