"Against all forms of tyranny, I swear eternal enmity." |
|
Thomas Jefferson.
I'll stand there with him. I'm gonna wear the black hood to signify to those in the know. A lot of people here would call me conservative. Most people out there who listen to Rush would call me a socialist. Labels don't matter. You are either for tyranny, or against it. Are you guys with me? Are you ready to win your freedom?
I'm a straight guy, but I ask you: If two people are of the same sex and love each other, but are not yet free to legally declare that love, how can any of us presume we have liberty?

And equal rights for gays should be every bit as important as equal rights for everyone else. Bush says marriage should be between a man and a woman. Kerry says the same damn thing. To Kerry's credit he doesn't want to make it impossible for homosexuals to have equal rights as does Bush, but I'd really like to hear him come out and say, " Marriage is between two people who love each other." Period.

2. Marriage is a RELIGIOUS sacrament |
|
and I happen to belong to a church that has no problem with gay marriage.
So Bush would have the government decree that my concept of God is wrong and his is right! And Kerry is not far removed from that ... for reasons of politics, I understand ...
But, that being the case, how can we say we have freedom of religion here? Forgive me that pisses me off! A gay man's or lesbian woman's rights cannot be abridged without limiting my own. When will people get that?

3. We are still trying to form a more perfect Union |
|
The wonderful thing about America is not that it already has fixed all societal problems, rather the wonderful thing is that the nation has succeeded in its struggle to preserve a political environment in which progress can happen, albeit slowly.
We will suffer but our suffering is proof that there is resistance in this time of regress. Every moment we hold them back is one less step that they will trespass later, for whether they like it or not Americans have a short tolerance for extremism. Their surge is at its peak, it soon will fall.

Yours is the correct perspective on this. We must seek progress, not perfection.

6. And why is it "two"? Is there any reason exept religion, |
|
why polygamy is banned? If three adult persons love each other, why are they not allowed to marry?
