Dear Member,

We are pleased to announce "Museum Night" on Thirteen/WNET on Thursday, October 28. The evening's lineup will profile some of the world's finest exhibitions and museums located in New York.

"Great Museums: The Metropolitan Museum of Art: A World of Art," beginning at 8:00 p.m., will profile the dazzling collection at the Metropolitan. This hour-long program will feature the Metropolitan Museum's director, Philippe de Montebello, in an interview with Thirteen's president and CEO, Dr. Bill Baker.

Afterward, "The Art of Romare Bearden," beginning at 9:00 p.m., which coincides with a citywide celebration of his work, will be followed by "Great Museums: American Folk Art Museum, NYC" at 9:30 p.m. and "One Bite of the Apple: A Portrait of the Artist Edwina Sandys," a profile of a granddaughter of Winston Churchill, at 10:00 p.m.

For more information, please visit www.thirteen.org and see the daily television schedule. Please check your local PBS stations for the airdate for this special program in your home city.

For information on the New York citywide celebration of the life and work of American artist Romare Bearden (1911–1988), visit the Romare Bearden Foundation at www.beardenfoundation.org.

At www.greatmuseums.org, link to museums nationwide and read more about the Great Museums' episodes on New York's The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Folk Art Museum.

"Romare Bearden at the Met" is on view at the Metropolitan Museum through March 6, 2005. On display are his famous six-part collage of Harlem street life, titled The Block (1971), his colorful tapestry Recollection Pond (1976)—shown for the first time at the Museum with preliminary studies—and other works on paper. For more information, see the online preview.

With Best Wishes,
