Back in the old days of DU ------- Remember when? |
|
Remember when lots of DUers had sig lines that read (for example) "Member of the Grassy Knoll Society, Tulsa Chapter?"
Surely I'm not the only one who remembers.

3. SO many things like that have come and gone.... |

not sure if I ever used it BUT... I'm a JFK conspiracy addict from WAY WAY WAY back. my first 'political' theatre (actor, not writer!) was a JFK satire in college....
the ONE constant in my sig has been: DISSENT IS ESSENTIAL

8. Heck, yeah. I had a "Grassy Knoll Society" sig line, myself. |
|
I changed my sig line 2 years ago yesterday, when my senator, Paul Wellstone was killed in a plane crash. I changed to a photo of Wellstone, and a green bus logo, which I kept until the presidential campaign season first started. Then I switched to a Kucinich avatar until the end of the Democratic primaries.
No matter what, I consider myself a lifetime member of the "Grassy Knoll Society" -- 9/11 was MIHOP, and Wellstone's death was an assassination.

21. I remember when Will Pitt had just started his writing |

Way back when I kept my mouth shut, and probably hadn't even had the nerve to sign up yet. ;) He's come such a long way and done such a great job. Go, Will!
I did enjoy the Grassy Knoll sigs, but at a certain point when sig pics were out of control, I turned them off and I've gotten used to reading without them. I might have to try turning them on again for a while.

have a great many thoughtful and intellectual posters, Its funny thinking back to the times of inflammatory cycles in response to a specific news events and the tranquil periods when the historians among us dredged up old information to the keep the fires stoked and then to times of tin foil hat theories that made us laugh and sometimes ponder

I also remember when I could read every post on DU in a couple of hours.
Every. Single. Post.
Now I can't even keep up with all the threads.
I remember the first time I saw someone with over 1,000 posts that I didn't know and had never seen before. That's when I realised how big DU was.
