My experience refinancing with dietech.com-oh boy!
It went very well until the closing. The mortgage holder in my case was a private individual and they overpaid him by 400 dollars. The closing estimate that I signed reflected the correct amount owed to the individual. When I recieved the final papers it showed a different figure- based on the assumption that I didn't make my september payment to the mortgage holder. I called Dietech when I recieved the closing statement and pointed out they made an error. The woman I talked to promised to try to get it straightend out with the mortgage holder. I talked to the guy that evening and he agreed he was overpaid and would mail a check.
Two weeks later, no check. I called him and his wife said he was "out of town" until next week and she didn't know anything about the money. I called the woman at dietech and she HADN'T contacted the guy at ALL.
I called Dietech and asked to speak with a supervisor and they said that there isn't anything they could do-the check was cashed. I called them the DAY the checks arrived and informed them of the error- they didn't do anything then either. Now they say its TTO LATE????? It is now up to me to correct Dietech's mistake.

Take it for what its worth- that is my experience.

1. I'm not a lawyer, but
...it seems to me the closing statement and the cashed check for the last payment should be enough to prove the duplicate payment in a court of law. Should you be forced to go that route.

3. I know it but what a hassle.
If I were running the show at dietech I would have at least contacted the guy I paid too much and would have TRIED to get it right.

2. Similar experience with Geico.
Signed up for an annual policy for my cars and got a 40% reduction in insurance rates.

The first bill came and I learned "annual" means "six months" at Geico. Fortunately, State Farm took me right back with no stop in coverage.

4. I used to have Geico - they were much more expensive
than a subsequent policy.
