Don't be so hypersensitive RedQueen!
It's not a woman's JOB, but women seem to enjoy it more than men, that's all.

Edited to add, probably true which is really irritating. But on the flip side there are many men that clean also.

7. I had a cleaning service when I worked outside my home...now that |
|
I've moved my office into my house, I canceled the service. I felt like I spent enough time here that I could handle the cleaning myself. But, so far I haven't spent that much time cleaning. I guess I was so used to them coming.
I hate sweeping and moping the floors. Everything else is fine. I'm thinking about hiring them back to just do the floors...but I'm not sure they would be interested.
Good Luck

Although if we put our house up on the market, I'll probably hire one for one time use, to do a really thorough cleaning. It's hard for me to do that with DU around. And the kids.

I won't hire a franchised service ever after reading that book. If I ever do hire anyone for that one time thorough cleaning, it will be someone independent.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0805063897/002-1378360-9136043?v=glanceIt's a great book about the working poor that shatters all kinds of myths that right perpetrates about the working poor. The author writes about her experiences trying to live solely off the types of low wage jobs that millions in America have. One of them was for a "Merry Maids" type cleaning franchise.

he was very polite and punctual, he and I got along real swell. and the main reason my parents employed him was because he was trying to save up to pay for his sister's wedding. he finally did, and moved back to a state in India some of you have probably havent heard of.

35. Our cleaning lady is wonderful |
|
My wife and I both leave at 6:00 am and get home at 8:00 pm. We honestly don't have time to clean. The cleaning lady comes in every Tuesday and Friday and vacuums, does laundry, dusts and does general straightening up. She is a saint.

Sigh. If mine did the laundry she'd be perfect. But there's a laundromat one block away from me with a wash-and-fold service, so I can't complain. We work long hours too, and without the cleaning lady we'd be living in filth. We only have her come once a week (smallish apartment) and she does all the stuff that we would probably never do (vacuums, mops, scrubs the bathroom, etc.) She does have some funny ideas about where things belong (I once found the TV remote in the hall closet) but we have learned most of her quirks and love her anyway. It's so nice to come home to a sparkling clean apartment! If I ever win the lottery I will have her come every day!

My husband and I both hate cleaning. We'd have someone come in if we could afford it. We probably would have to have less clutter too. One of my high school friend's mom was a cleaning lady and always complained about clutter to clean around. If I get a better job, my husband gets a job or makes some money with his business, and we buy a house, we'll probably find an independent cleaning lady. They are usually cheaper but personally keep more of the money.
