the second toe on my right foot...according to the doctors it's a "stress fracture", which means that they can't find an actual fracture but there must be one there, because it acts like it's broken. So now I hobble around and can't put any weight on my toes. The worst thing is-I have no idea how it happened. I honestly don't remember anything happenning. Going through the airport tomorrow is gonna be fun...

and it does help. It really doesn't hurt so long as I keep no pressure on it. So I can walk, so long as I walk on the ball of my foot. However, if I try to bend my toes-OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

It will help the broken one from swelling. Also try to ice it. Broken toes can really hurt.

6. I Broke My Baby Toe a Few Years Ago |
|
We had just had our mobile home moved from a mobile home park to a piece of land we bought. Before the move, we had to pack everything up and put it in storage. We were still living out of cardboard boxes when I was walking through the kitchen barefoot and hit the baby toe on my right foot against the box that was filled with our good china. It proved to be an immovable object.
The next morning, I had to go to Payless and buy some shoes in a larger size.

Rest ice compression elevation
If you can tolerate it, you might want to take ibuprofen to keep the swelling and inflammation down - 2 tablets, 4 times a day (check with your doctor before taking any medication prescribed by someone from DU!)
My best advice would be to keep it elevated as much as you can and drink lots of milk.

10. I thought I broke my toe once |
|
and I couldn't recall having done anything at all to it. But it was swollen and purple and hurt like hell, so I assumed I'd broken it somehow, possibly in my sleep. It was my big toe, though, and not the second toe. Which prompted my doc to check me for the gout, which it turns out I had. Nasty shit. Been a year and a half now since I've had it last, and I hope to hell it never comes back.

Have the little one and the next broken at the base.
Clumsy as usual ... ran into furniture in the middle of the night.
Doc gave me an anti-inflammatory ... and as per previous advice ... I tape both to the closest "good" toe.
Keep elevated if you can ... also a sprinkle of Gris-Gris ... a dash of Dark Jamaican Rum with a squeeze of lime works wonders.
Been about 3 weeks for me and the discomfort is easing ... now I have to remember to continue to walk flat-footed so as not to bend the toes when I walk.
Been thrown from cars .... in motorcycle wrecks ... even been shot ... and there IS something about a breaking a toe that causes one to unleash the most imaginative and lengthy stream of cussin ...
Lookin at about 4 to 6 weeks to heal ....
Stay off of it and keep smilin !

At least you know what happened too. I don't remember doing ANYTHING! but it sure acts like it's broken, so they're calling it a stress fracture.
