1. I wear a camo outback hat when I do field work... |

It's not stylish, but it keeps the sun off my head. :-)

Large brim. Often in the garden. Cool and shady. Packable, washable.

6. well, i have a couple... |

summertime, i wear a baseball cap to keep the sun off my (increasingly bare) head, also for working outside.
wintertime, i wear a stetson (felt, standard brim,), like any hat you would see in a 40's movie (grant, bogart, etc). I used to wear a tote in winter, but it just don't look right. - Thought I looked kinda odd when I first tried it out, but damn, it is so much warmer than any hat I ever owned. I've learned to love it now, and now that most people who know me have gotten used to it, i've stopped getting comments.

whenever I'm outdoors in summer. It shades my whole face and neck. I'm bald & scalp sunburns are very painful. I don't want a melanoma & I don't want to have one of those awful spotty looking old guy scalps when I'm 80... http://www.tilley.com/thumbnail.asp?gender=&extractBy=CategoryId&id=1Oooo! they have winter hats now. And Hemp hats...
