Some Yankee fans on this forum sound for all the world...
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 05:07 PM by WilliamPitt
like Red Sox fans.

Not 2004 American League Champion, one win away from the World Series ring Red Sox fans. Some Yankee fans here sound like the Sox fans of last year, and the year before, and the year before, and the year before.

Angry. Petulant. Bitter. Whining.

It's a lessening of you, in my opinion. Why?

Count carefully. That is 26 championship rings. And then there's this:

Count carefully. That is 39 American League Championship rings. And then there's this:

I could go on, but you get my point.

Stop whining. Put away the bitterness. Suck it up. The entire history of baseball is woven with Yankee blue. Be thankful for what you have, because you have more than any other baseball fans anywhere.

And maybe, just maybe, stop trying to ruin things for other fans.

3. Good luck tonight Will
The Red Sox are my second favorite team. I can only imagine the uncontrollable release that will grip Boston if they win tonight. I could rival V-J Day in 1945.

4. I agree. You win some and you lose some
there's always next year, and it seems to me (okay, I'm not that knowledgeable about baseball) that the Yankees always do well. Be happy that your team has been so consistently good for such a long time.

5. As a proud & long term Yankees fan,
I am happy for the Sox & their fans!

We Yankee fans have much to be happy about, & this is a special year.

I am looking at it as an omen for Kerry.

If the Sox win, it looks good for Kerry.

Baseball fans are very superstitious, right?

If you can't taunt the losers? Some people can suck the fun out of anything.

9. Here's one Yankee fan that looks forward to a Red Sox win tonight
We need to move on to a new phase of our mutual torment, Red Sox fans. It's only fitting that you pull off the greatest comeback in the history of MLB postseason against US before winning the Series for the first time in 86 years.

We helped make you who you are (and vice versa). I see the beauty in it.

And, let's face it, these games are a snoooooooore. You want gripping, pulsating, blood curdling, backbreaking, mind numbing baseball theater? It's on US; Yankees/Sox, for better or worse.

So win the Series and we'll see ya next year (probably with Pedro on our side—GOD FORBID).

I'd like to see them win it at Fenway . . . after all these years, the fans deserve it . . .

Go Sox! . . . :)

Especially after all these years. But Sox fans are such pessimists I don't think they could handle losing the next two games.

22. I appreciate that!
I can never root for the Sox being a Yankees fan but I wish the Sox would just win so they and their fans could stop whining about not winning and how the Yankees always wins and how the Yanks buy championships.

You still have to go out and play the games and this year the Sox WANTED it more. It had nothing to do with who had the most money.

Yes, the Yankees have the advantage of signing big names because they have the money but in those years past, the Yankees refused to lose.

This year, that valuable attitude just wasn't there for the Yankees and it was for the Sox.

The Sox deserved to win because they wanted it more. I congrat them on that.

..win a World Series. If I don't see one within the next 4 games I'm afraid I'll never see one.

Some would say "SO?" What's the big deal?
Yeah well...it's a big deal to me. :)

15. As a Yankees fan, I am neither bitter nor whining. The ongoing
rivalries between teams, particularly the Yanks and the Sox, is a major reason why baseball remains interesting and relevant. If one team, even the Yanks, were to win every year it would cease to be interesting.

While I was, and will continue, rooting for the Yanks, once the Sox won the ALCS I have been rooting for them to win the WS. Just think of how interesting and different next year will be when Yanks fans have to come up with a new slogan to match the chants of, "Two Thousand, Two Thousand . . ." which will greet them at Fenway.

The great thing about baseball is that you can care very much about the outcome of a game or series for a few harrowing hours but when it's over, reality returns--which isn't always a good thing. All in all, the Sox winning the WS would be a good thing for baseball and even a good thing for the Sox-Yankees rivalry. Just don't gloat prematurely, you haven't won it yet and there is precedent . . .

17. I dont know why some of them are complaining
My team may not be the red sox in terms of struggling but they haven't made the playoffs in a good 8 years, so the Yanks didn't make the series for the first time since 2002 and before that 1997, it ain't that bad.

What's the fun of a rivalry if the other team's always losing?

Actually, now that I think about it, it was rather amusing...

When they were playing the Cards at least :)

But all along I was thinking, we don't need ring 27 as bad as we need a Kerry presidency. I figured a Sox win would give Kerry a great boost and that's what matters.
